Sweet, sugar coated almond aroma with some lemony ethanol. Clear, reddish amber with a quickly dropping, tawny top. Sort of typical, dryish barleywine: subdued cereal grains plus some apple walnut. Good balance of elevated sweetness and moderate bitterness. The brown sugar almost comes off like a Belgian strong ale. Medium body, a bit syrupy, almost clean finish. Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Sep 25, 2008 (Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2008) Reddish amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, orange peel and fruitcake. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, fruitcake, orange marmalade and generous doses of citrussy, earthy hops in the finish. Full body, sweetness is very nicely balanced by the hops. Actually quite brilliant. Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 24, 2008 Bottle at EBF. Clear red/brown - offwhite head. Sweetness, raisins, berries, bread, caramel, light hoppy, thin body, light hoppy, high malty, roasted, light woody notes. OK - but a bit disappointing compaired to other Barlew Wines & other brews from Nynäshamn.... this is "high" alcohol but light body usual it’s the other way around !! MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Sep 21, 2008 Bottle at EBF08. OK malty aroma. Spicy hoppiness. Good mouthfeel, but not too strong. thewolf (3963), Kolding, Denmark Sep 20, 2008 Bottle @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.<br />
Pours redish amber with no head. Aroma has caramel, some cardboard, berries and dried fruitys. Fine, oily mouthfeel. Flavour is slightly smoky, caramel with a pretty dry finish. Okay, but not much of a BW.
