The year 2003 is the best. we shared 4 bootles last time at Mackinleys Inn.
2004 is the worst and it is still better then any other beer.
2005 I got a hold of 20 bottles and still have one for saving at home. Still buying them when I can at the bar too. But they have a high price and well worth the price, remember to drink it at the right temperature TheCheeseMan (449), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Dec 17, 2007 Thanks Santa!!! Poured an insanely deep black, head vanishes to quickly, but a thin ring clings for life along the edge of the glass. Aroma is bold and fully roasted. Hints of smoke, piloncillo, rum and some leather. Flavor is equally as assertive, and seems to last for an eternity. Roasted and slightly bitter. Amazing. boboski (1095), USA Dec 17, 2007 2005, bottle #448. I have wanted to sample this beer for a few years, but as the moment finally arrives I don’t feel quite the anticipation I have in the past. I’ll take this as a healthy omen, since I really want to approach this with an open mind and no preconceptions. A small, light brown head quickly fades to grouped clusters and oily residue. The body is near-black and shiny. I like shiny. Wow, this smells great! Smoke, charred malt, tar, molasses, chocolate, black fruits, vanilla, fresh French oak, caramel and anise are all found in the aroma. What’s more, they’re all easily discernible. Just fantastic. A traditional element is the standout feature of the nose. Lesser notes of thistle honey and crumpled grains lead the finale in, where mildness is achieved in a soft but firm blend. The flavor is lovely too, the aforementioned now gelled into a complex mesh of dark fruits, succulent chocolates and mild comforting bitterness. Sweetness is medium to medium-high and lingers heavily in the marshmallow creme-coated finish. The palate feelings are of velvet, tickly but sparse bubbles and smoothly flowing roast. This is fantastic and will remain a wanted beer. wilkie (1006), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Dec 13, 2007 Bottle at argo0’s xmas beer party-thanks to whomever brought it! Pours dark brown with small head. Smells like burnt plastic. Flavor is smoky and roasty, but there is something I really don’t like in the flavor at all.
