2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dec 2004, Swedish dregs, Alts etc tasting w/MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere #14. 500 ml? bottle. Dark orange-amber, somewhat cloudy-swirly with a short-duration head...smoky pine in the weak earthy nose...watery, weak and lightly smoky malt in the body, with some simple late bitterness and just a touch of acidic fruit, a disappointment.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2008 Leafy, bitter hops possess both citrus fruit and piney earth shadows...Caramel and tropical fruit won’t be ready for a while I’m afraid...Lean and simple, not quite close to the style (as Papsoe says, it feels more Belgian than British), but still well made and drinkable...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light amber color, hazy. Light white ring. Very spicy hops emanate from the bottle. Apparently tart with its hints of lemon and grapefruit juice. Fresh and vigorous citrusy hops complement the earthy malts into a light palate. As it warms up, tea flavors and leafy bitterness become more apparent. Moderate amount of carbonation supports it all. Thanks Per!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2007 (Bottled) Almost clear, copper color with a medium, foamy and firm, lacy head. Aromatic, flowery-pine-hoppy aroma with nutty-toffeeish maltiness. Very pine-resiny, aromatic-hoppy, dryish and bitter flavor with juniper and hints of anise. Medium-bodied, dryish and very bitter, astringent palate with balanced carbonation. A very distinctive and enjoyable, quite original bitter. Nice!
(Draught@Ardbeg Room, Stockholm) Clear amber color with a large, foamy head. Aromatic-hoppy, flowery aroma with a hint of sweetness. Strongly hoppy, slightly woody and fruity, moderately malty flavor with a long, bitter finish. Medium-bodied, bitter and slightly sugary palate. A very nice, aromatic-hopped and very easily drinkable brew.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The colour is deep copper red; the compact foam is white.
The spell is full of bitter hops; there is lots of (at least) Challenger and Fuggles in this brew.
The carbonation is powerful, but it fades immediately in the mouth.
The taste is bitter, bitter and bitter. But not in an unpolished way, there is elegance in this ale. The first rush of bitterness is replaced by a small sweet touch of elder flowers, but also some wormwood. The slowly descending aftertaste got a complex bitterness and a hint of rye bread.
So far, this is the best Swedish bitter!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper color with an average off white head.
Well balanced but subdued, malt and hop aroma.
Nicely balanced brew with a nice dry hop finish. Could use a little more body, but this is a well brewed ESB.
Thanks to Per for sending this one my way!!

Nice fruity hoppy aroma. Bitter profile. Ozone, citrus oil. Dark red-amber clear with off-white lacing head. Medium body with light carbonation. A nice bitter. Starts with hops, fruity, ozone. Light bitterness and acidity. Malt presence, cereal in the finish. Light clean after. This is a very nice bitter.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very nice apperance, copper to oragne body, with nice bubbles and a nice little white head. Very flowery and hoppy aroma, recocnizeable cascade hops, some frutyness lies beneath. Good and pleasant bitterness, citrusy and piney, very cascade-ish, some fruityness. A bit too thin, but good as a session beer. Thanks to rickgordon for trading me this one.
