COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Note: Unaged, nameless version pre-released in september 2007. Officially released as Bötet Barley Wine in september 2008.

2011 Bottle courtesy of Alex. Thanks! Pours clear amber color with thin head that does not last. Aroma is butterscotch and caramel. Medium heavy mouthfeel. Flavor is pretty balanced and is butterscotch forward, followed by a nice caramel middle, and finishes with a mix of the two. This hides the alcohol well. Very nice.

Light hop aroma. The flavor of berries and caramel. Weak bitterness that is trapped in front of the mouth a weak moment. I thought this beer would be much better. Vintage 2012. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Pours reddish brown with a small, light beige head. The aroma is dominated by raisins, plums, some barley and a slight boozy note. Medium-sweet on the flavour, but the plums dominate completely. Still rather fresh with some complexity and decent finish.

25 cl. bottle, enjoyed with a good cheese plate. Delicious. Clear, amber colour with a small, off-white head. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, fruits, light alcohol, grape and nuts. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily feel and a soft carbonation. Finishes lightly bitter with resins, fruits and grasses. Nice BW and a good cheese pairing.

@Nedre Mölla 2/6-14. Flaska från Systembolaget. Arom: Sötma, malt, karamell fruktig, körsbär, jordgubb. Smak: Dito + hög sötma. Kroppen är fyllig, avslutningen söt med viss beska.

0,25l bottle @ Bryggeri. Pours clear brown with a very low head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel and alcohol. Disappointingly light flavor is sweet malts, caramel, alcohol and some hops. Decent but could be better.

Backlog. Tried on bottle. Bought from Systembolaget when it was available. A hint to sweet for me.

(bottle, many thanks to whoever brought this!) pours a murky deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of heavy alcohol, caramel and gooseberries, with a faint hint of cassis and some brown sugar. flavour is heavily oxidized, with lots of caramel, brown sugar and liquorice, a hint of fermented fruit and some alcohol. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

Amber body, almost no head. Fresh fig, dried fruit, rum like sweetness, light amber malts. Taste is more pungent, concentrated flavours of sweetness of sticky fruit. Fairly short ending. More English Aromatic and Flavourful than new style concentrated thickness and molasses. Great classic barley wine if only the aroma would have been a bit more rich too. (25cl bottle brought from Uppsala by Bertanne, many thanks!)

Bottle at Cafe Abseits. Tasting. Hazy amber lasting beige head. Sweet toffee aroma. Sweet. Ok. Bit dusty musty
