Bottled. The aroma has caramel and raisiny malts, some grapefruit hoppiness. Clear, amber-red coloured beer with a lasting off-white head. The taste is sweet, has toffee, hops, raisins mainly. Belly-warming beer. Alcohol present. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled from bottle at SMOF. Vintage 07. Copper colour, pretty low head. Almond paste and cognac in aroma. Nice higher alcohols. Obvious alcohol in flavour, it gets too much, and becomes bitter. Nice solid maltiness, but lacking the bold malt kick I want in a Barly Wine. Not all complex. Or not that outspoken. Alcool dominates and lingers unfortunately after 2 years in bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours deep red copper with a big, yellowish head. Potent citrus hops and raisins aroma. Raisins, toffee and grapefruit flavours, all perfectly balanced. A very enjoyable barley wine- harmonious and dangerously drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle@Home. Very malty aroma. Orange golden colour, beige head, good lace. Very sweet, light malty, lots of malts, hint of honey, sugar and maple syrup. Nice Barley Wine, tasted like it had aged a little, could use some hops.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2010 Appearance: 4/5
Dark, slightly hazy, amber liquid with a small dirty white foam.
Strong smell of wood, malt, caramell and also wineous almost like porter. Some alcohol as well.
Sweet with allot of malt, sugar, hops and wine.
Puckering mouthfeel, thick body and medium smooth puckering mouthfeel. It put a smile on my face.
A very nice Barley Wine that reminds me a bit of Bigfoot Barley wine although with less hops and lighter body. It might have been a bit to sweet though, but it might improve over time. I’m going to buy another bottle and store for at least a year to see what I think.
Something worth mentioning is the 25 cl bottle that just feels perfect for this kind of beer. I wouldn’t mind similar bottles in the future.
