2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ingevara (714) - SWEDEN - DEC 6, 2008
Reddish brown, thick head, slowly cvnishing. Fragrant and sweet, but with a balancing bitterness that makes this barley wind quite endurable. The presence of alcohol is of course obvious, but less than usual for a barley wine.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sayravai (4654) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 27, 2008
(Draught@Pikkulintu) Slightly hazy red-amber with a small, tanned head. Grainy-fruity-malty aroma with berry hints. Strongly dried-fruity, sweetish-grainy-malty flavor with berryish hints, some ashes, and medium bitterness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. A quite ok barley wine, but could be more complex.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ljunkan (529) - Drammen, NORWAY - NOV 20, 2008
Pours a nice deep red color with a small white foamy head, leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma is nice and malty. Lots of caramel and dried fruits. Very fruity-aleish in a english-styled way. A bit vinous. Seems interesting! Flavour is sweet, malty with notes of dried fruits, toffee/caramel and liquorice. A bit "peppery" and spicey with warming alcohol. Very nice. Mouthfeel is very nice and filling. Liquid is very smooth, the carbonation is low and the beer seems very fullbodied. A bit oily. This is a very nice sipper and Nynäshamn doesn’t dissapoint. Good! Very malty and english in the style - perfect when you want something else than the more regular american "hop bomb"!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 asheft (2269) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 5, 2008
[bottle at EBF 2008]
Sweet, sugar coated almond aroma with some lemony ethanol. Clear, reddish amber with a quickly dropping, tawny top. Sort of typical, dryish barleywine: subdued cereal grains plus some apple walnut. Good balance of elevated sweetness and moderate bitterness. The brown sugar almost comes off like a Belgian strong ale. Medium body, a bit syrupy, almost clean finish.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (5240) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 25, 2008
(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2008) Reddish amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, orange peel and fruitcake. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, fruitcake, orange marmalade and generous doses of citrussy, earthy hops in the finish. Full body, sweetness is very nicely balanced by the hops. Actually quite brilliant.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Theis (11355) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 24, 2008
Bottle at EBF. Clear red/brown - offwhite head. Sweetness, raisins, berries, bread, caramel, light hoppy, thin body, light hoppy, high malty, roasted, light woody notes. OK - but a bit disappointing compaired to other Barlew Wines & other brews from Nynäshamn.... this is "high" alcohol but light body usual it’s the other way around !!
