Note: Unaged, nameless version pre-released in september 2007. Officially released as Bötet Barley Wine in september 2008.

Sticky fruity hops and sherbetty aroma. Beautiful sweet malty port-wine and very nice fruity sticky hops in the taste. Plenty of malts in there. Anna says citrus, Minna says grapefruit, but to me it is the sticky resiny, perhaps English, whole hop flowers. Really pressed my buttons.
Rerate: 275ml bottle (Bryggeri, Helsinki) (8:4:9:4:17=4.2)
Very nice aged aroma - dryish and a little woody, just a hint that it’s at the limit and will start to decline before too long. Nice clear red, brief head. Total wow in the mouth. I mean, just wow! Lovely butterscotchy toffee, nice raisinyness and dates. Love the bitterness in the finish. So full, without being sticky. An ideal sipper - would be great in winter in front of an openfire. (It’s 30C out, and I’m sunburnt...) Only one thing to do once you’ve finished the bottle - have a second one!

Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2008-11-18. Amber and clear. Medium sized white long lasting head. Malts, sweetness and alcohol in nose. Full bodied and little bit dry palate with medium carbonation. Salty liquorice, malts, bitterness, sweetness, alcohol and bit of fruitiness in taste. Malty, sweet and lightly bitter aftertaste. I suppose aging of this beer would not do any harm to it.

Reddish brown, thick head, slowly cvnishing. Fragrant and sweet, but with a balancing bitterness that makes this barley wind quite endurable. The presence of alcohol is of course obvious, but less than usual for a barley wine.

(Draught@Pikkulintu) Slightly hazy red-amber with a small, tanned head. Grainy-fruity-malty aroma with berry hints. Strongly dried-fruity, sweetish-grainy-malty flavor with berryish hints, some ashes, and medium bitterness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. A quite ok barley wine, but could be more complex.

Pours a nice deep red color with a small white foamy head, leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma is nice and malty. Lots of caramel and dried fruits. Very fruity-aleish in a english-styled way. A bit vinous. Seems interesting! Flavour is sweet, malty with notes of dried fruits, toffee/caramel and liquorice. A bit "peppery" and spicey with warming alcohol. Very nice. Mouthfeel is very nice and filling. Liquid is very smooth, the carbonation is low and the beer seems very fullbodied. A bit oily. This is a very nice sipper and Nynäshamn doesn’t dissapoint. Good! Very malty and english in the style - perfect when you want something else than the more regular american "hop bomb"!
