Brown with thin white head. Aroma of roasted fresh malt, hops and grains. Malty flavour with notes of licorice, chocolate and hops. Elegant bitterness.

(bottle, shared by DerDoppelbock) Chestnut brown colour with a short off-white frothy layer. Moderately sweet grainy and spicy floral and herbal hop aroma, also slightly vinous with fruity notes. Bitter, slightly sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark malty taste with a well-balanced fruitiness; dry and lasting bitter hoppy finish (05.10.06).

Bottle (shared with DerDoppelbock!): Deep amber coloured, small off-white foamy layer; strong fruity, vinous, dark malty, bready nose; moderate spicy, quite dry bitter flavour, medium bodied; quite dry, a bit coffeeish finish. Pleasant !

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2006 Coca-cola colour with coca-cola head, receding but stabling itself at 1/2 cm. Very hoppy nose, absolutely unsettling for a "brown ale". Dry hops, hopbails. Strange mix of sweet, lightly bitter hopstaste, with a short-lived metallic edge, and a difficult to discern touch of sourness. On top of that, I find something salty too, apart from obvious bread flavours. It’s sounds perfect balance, but it isn’t at all! Medium bodied. Fresh hoppiness is counteracted by the bready flavours and doughy MF. It’s pleasing in many ways, yet its unbalanced, lopsided style doesn’t do it any favours.
Big thanks to B&A brothers!

Sampled from draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2005.
Dark amber colored, foamy light tan head. Malt and spice aroma, hints of brown sugar and fruity notes. Roasted and spicy in the flavor, bit of liquorice and a dry dusty end. Not very balanced.

On draught at The Rover, Göteborg.. Brown-ish colour. Weird nose - nothing that would tell this is a brown ale. Nynäs yeast profile though. Fruity, soda-like with lots of hops. Long flavour. And...swimming pool-tone that´s so familiar in Nynäs brews.

Draught, at The Rover. Brown with beige head, mostly lasting, excellent lacings. Aroma moderate malty and hoppy (burnt, roasted, caramel, flowers). Flavor moderate sweet and bitter, mean duration. Light to medium body, watery, flat carbonated.

Quite hop aromatic for a brown ale. Slightly medicinal taste. Bread-full and low on bitterness. 6/3/6/4/12 3.1

A completely different brew. Aroma so full of flowery hops (Fuggles?). Full bodied malty taste with flowery hops and a cereal finish. Great one!

Draught, alc. 6.3%
Brown ruby color, off-white creamy head. Hops, barley and yeast in the nose. Toffeeish and hoppy with grassy notes. Well-balanced. I don’t know if this really is brown ale.
