3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear, light copper red, with a brownish hue, and a light, creamy white head. A bit too light on the Brown Ale scale. The nose is quite hoppy, with hints of yeast (Belgo?) and smoke/ashes, against a fruity, malty background comprising roasted notes and faint hints of toffee. Medium bodied, off-dry, rather fruity, with a balanced bitterness. Again, rosted malt, vague hints of toffee, on the hoppy side, yeast aromas return. Judged as a Brown Ale, it is a bit too light in both colour and body, and lacks the heavy fruitiness and the toffee/caramel notes. As a beer in general, it’s quite enjoyable. (Rated on 2010-08-19)

Lovely amber, fruity beer, way beyond most brown ale. A little sourness, reminding me of al Altbier. Nice stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nut brown body, white head. Nicely balanced malts and american hops, nutty. Round roasted flavour with smooth malt and hops. Very good brown ale for a guy that doesn’t usually like brown ales.

200ml, draught at The Rover where it was served nicely chilled. Deep, amber-brown coloured, decent off-white head. Modest smell of mid-sweet, dark malts. Dark malts in flavour offset by moderate fruity tartness. Well balance and easy to drink (Göteborg, 03.08.2010).

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2010 Tried this on tap at Mackinlays Inn, now retested as a cask ale at Oliver Twist in Stockholm. I remember thinking this beer had to much burned toast and was to unbalanced. This time it was allot better, a nice mix of dark bread, caramel and a surprisingly high bitterness. The mouth feel was a smooth with a medium thick body and also a bit dry. It had more flavour overall then I expected and the bitterness came as a surprise. It also wasn’t a fresh and crisp beer, more like dark tasty bread which makes me think of autumn.
