UPDATED: APR 5, 2012 Re-rated in 2012. I thought this beer lacked both hop aroma and bitterness last year. I got the same experience this year but I also sense some boiled vegetables in the smell. Also a fair amount of sweet candy aromas. Someone said "sockerbitar" which is probably fairly close to what Im sensing. Ok beer but not what you would expect when you open a bottle of DIPA.

courtesy of Per - very slightly hazy reddish-amber colour under a solid and persistent creamy beige foam; nice lacework; malty and nutty with a solid hoppiness showing notes of red fruits marmalade; moderate carbonation and a fair malt body; slightly sticky and with a high but not aggressive bitterness; the finish shows a nice balance between malts and hops

Amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of fruity and resinous hops, with a touch of caramel. Sweet toffee flavour with fruity hops, apricot and pine, a hint of alcohol and a decent bitter finish

Ljunkan (530) - NORWAY - AUG 11, 2010
Bottle. Pours a copper color with a mediumsized white head, som lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, orange, resin, grass and caramel. Flavour of orange, lemon, resin, grapefruit and balancing caramely maltiness. Finish is bitter, but not brutal - somewhat mild for the style. Rather lively and fresh carbonation. Mediumbodied.

Clear amber. Fruits, spices and caramel in flavour with a very bitter finish. This sample feeles like it’s got some strange off-recipie yeast to it. The flavours comes bbig in the beginning but fades off leaving the bitterness alone in the end, hence the ending feel quite one dimensional.

Draught at 3smårum. Deep golden. Small white head. A lot of sweet toffee in the aroma. Big, grassy bitterness in the flavour mixed with salmiak.

Fungrim (60) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 30, 2010
First rating! Bottle. Off white, dense head. Amber drawing towards copper. Citrus, caramel and toast aroma. Very balanced nose, not too intense. Light sweetness, medium bitterness, borderline sour, some malt character coming through as well. Medium long finish, medium light body, rather smooth. Not the usual Nynäshamn house character, and slightly disappointing.

ClubGonzo (4549) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 23, 2010
Pours a clear orange-brown body with a medium off-white head. Aroma is delicious and intense, with honey, vanilla, wild strawberries and hints of peach. A real fruity hop bath for my nose. The taste does not, unfortunately, follow up so much, with only three thirds or so of the initial promises fulfilled. Some more flavors do arise, however, such as hay, grass and hints of licorice, which manages to save it somehow. The palate is the real problem with this one; thin and slightly watery compared to the otherwise rich and flavorful brew. With a couple more ABV percentages and a bit longer storage to boot, this beer could’ve reached Olympian heights. Instead, Dragets Kanal remains on the "very good, but not great" level. Try one if you can, though.

Bottled:
Pours dark amber with a mid-sized head. Malty toffee aroma with notes of dark fruits and cherries. Flavour is malty toffee and loads of hops. Well balanced and really good.
