50 cl bottle ciourtesy of Marsiblursi. Body is a dark chestnut/hickory color with a nice looking tan head that is two fingers thick, fluffy and lasting. The aroma is a big blast of spice featuring cloves, mace, nutmeg, cardamon, black pepper, white cake and vanilla. Nice. <P> Fore is soft feeling with hearty pumpernickel, lightly toasted malts, grain husks, muted spice and an overall rustic feel like this was brewed the other day on farm equipment in some dusty back woods shed. The mouthfeel is very nice and the flavor is solid, but the spice of the aroma doesn’t come over fully to the flavor and you are left with a mostly satisfying beer with a somewhat basic flavor profile..

[Bottle] Dark brown with a moderate, tan head. Aroma is spicy: nutmeg, cardamom and vanilla. The same spices show up in the flavour as well as hops and some smokiness. A flavourful and balanced beer.

Dark brown with a dry smooky fragrance. The bitterness is good, but the smoke taste is too dominating. Some chocolate, some coffee, but - too much smoke.

Top marks to this Swedish micro for coming up with a spicey ale that really is a bit different from the rest. Looks porterish on the pour, with a thick tan head and a mahogany body. Smells sweet with a stong peppary, cumin aroma. Tastes somewhat porter-like to, with suggestions of chocolate, nutmeg and orange peel. Kind of odd - but then that’s part of its charm.

Dark brown in colour. A brown head. The aroma brings wood, burnt malt, hot spice and ash. The flavor is from tar, dark malt. Interesting...!

Clear dark brown color, tan head. Sweet, spicy, alcohol, phenolic scent. Phenolic, spicy taste. Phenolic aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness, a bit harsh. Nope, don’t really like it still.

Draught at the brewery during a tasting and tour, on December 9, 2013.
2013 version.
Clear dark reddish brown color, dense light brown head. Sweet, spicy, clove, orange zest, phenolic scent. Spicy, malty, cream taste. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
For some reason liked a whole lot more this time.

Aroma: slightly smoky, leathery, fresh wood (not sawdust), nutmeg, malty, odd fruityness, (half acrid background aroma: coriander leaves), chocolate, ginger, syrup, cloves and moss. The label says it’s brewed with nutmeg, caraway, cloves, vanilla & orange peel. Taking another sniff I detect: the caraway. The vanilla is subtly embedded in the malt. The orange peel is also detectable, maybe this was what I thought of as coriander leaves. Appearance: very dark, reddish brown (=black). Pale beige, slightly browntinted head that looks milky and stoutlike. Flavour: lovely bitterness accompanied by a malty, slight sweetness, well balanced, but a bit watery. Palate: good but a bit too slimy, not very carbonated (good thing), round and mellow, buttery and creamy.
