Dark brown. Tinted head. Rich, spicy aroma. Smoke, raisins, pomerance and lots of hops. This is a sturdy and robust brew, better for fatty xmas food than eggs and fish. I like it best on its own.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is weird - like really bad coke mixed with cooked vegetables and some spices. Flavour is a bit roasted with a very earthy dirt feeling. Malty with some bitterness. There might have been something wrong with this beer. It was drinkable but I did not enjoy it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: APR 4, 2009 Bottle. Brown/dark reddish color with a beige head. Aroma: Very spicy and phenolic (typicall Nynäs) roasted malt, toffee, yeast, burned rubber, and light citrus. Flavor: Spices, yeast, roasted malt, licorice, coffee, caramel, wood, roasted sesame seed. Drinkable but a bit too dominated by that typicall yeastiness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
fantastic. Nice rich brown that reflects burnt orange in the light. Thin light head that beads on the sides. A heavenly aroma of nutmeg and allspice with bitter orange. Tastes of biter citrus and cooked hop, blended with light sweetness and spice. Finishes well, refreshing and bitter. The spice and malt linger on.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50cl bottle, bb 09-08. Clear red/brown and medium thick cream coloured head. Brown sugar, malt and some hops and notes of citrus in aroma (reminded me somewhat of a weißbier for some reason). High bitterness and acidity, but a little low on carbonation. Notes of hops and a sweet and fruity taste of red berries outside of the bitterness (which reminded me of a trappist instead, strange...)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle BB Sep 08. Reddish-brown color with a creamy tan head. Very British aroma. Earty hops, phenolics (band-aid), cloves, raisins and plums. Light body. Balances towards the malty side, with a really dry finish and some clove spiciness. Nice aftertaste of roasted malt. A nice beer that is quite spicy and dry. I would have expected much rounder maltiness and sweetness from this type of beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 7, 2010 Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding.
Deep mahogany pour with a pretty, beige and creamy head on top. Powerful sweet aroma with chocolate, toffee and light coffee. Low carbonation, a little thin in it’s mouthfeel. Flavour is mildly oxidized (not much, though), toffee caramel mixes well with light coffee and a dry chocolate finish. Actually a very nice beer - the oxidation takes of considerably as it warms up.

5. april 2010 - rating from a fresh bottle.
A nice red chestnut with a great, staying, creamy, yellowish head. Aroma has soft notes of metal, caramel that is lightly toasted, some ashes, liqourice and soft piney hops. Highish carbonation, good dry mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of liqourice, toasted caramel. Very dry with a slight herbal touch. Some berries and a weak note of ash. Okay,

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Clear, dark ruby pour, with a beige head. Roasted aroma with a little bonfire sourness. A bit weak maybe. Salty licorice, roasted malt and some hops in the flavor, as well as some fruity sweetness. Medium to full body, and a sweet and roasted finish with a little note of alcohol. Nice. (070928)
