Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Black with a tan head. Tones of both roasted malt and hops in the aroma: citric fruits, pine and grass with tobacco and liquorice. The flavour is bitter-fruity and hopped but also roasted with coffee and liquorice. Bitterness dominates the finish.

Sweetish nettley aroma, hint of tobacco, treacle and old leather. Weird herbal taste. Nettles definitely in the taste. Stir fry spicy vegetables. But also dry burnt roast. Kind of like an English stout, with added weirdness. Finish dry dry old bitter hops, touch of bitter coffee grounds too.

Dark brown almost black colour with small light tan head.
Malt, some roastiness, grassy hops, moderate bitterness and mild citrus in the aroma.
Excellent balance. Tempting.
The flavour is more roasted and more bitter. Not as balanced. Grassy hops. Bitterness is not that enjoyable. But afterall this is Black IPA.

Söt, syrlig, smak av humle, toner av choklad, gräs, läder. Torr, lågmäld och behaglig i sin smaksammansättning.

Draught. Black beer with creamy tan head and good lace. Piney/citrussy and juicy exotic hops, sourish/bready roasted notes. Flavor starts slightly caramelly, finishes with bready roastedness and a hint of chocolate. Balanced, lingering bitterness. Slightly thin finish but soft palate. Nice beer.

Draft @ Bishops Arms Gustav, Malmö. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty licorice hoppy aroma with hints of caramel. Roasted malty chocolate licorice hoppy bitter flavor. Has a roasted malty hoppy bitter licorice finish.

Hana @ Leskinen. Kaatuu lasiin hämärässä valossa mustana ja hieman valoa läpäisevänä, vaahto on sormen paksuinen, tiivis ja vahvaa pitsiä jättävä. Hajussa on saatu yhdistettyä stoutin ja IPAn parhaat puolet: sitrusta, havua, paahdetta ja suklaata löytyy, taustalla olevan karamellin tukemana. Maussa on samanlaista vivahdetta: nyt sitrus tuntuu vahvempana ja paahdetta löytyy enemmän. Paahteisuus tuntuu enemmänkin paahdedulta pähkinältä. Makeutta, suklaata ja lopussa havuista katkeroakin löytyy. Suutuntuma on tämän oluen heikkous, aluksi todella mieto, mutta lopussa katkerot tulevat ja jäävät pienenä kutinana kielelle. Tasapainoinen ja maistuva BIPA, hyvin saatu yhdistettyä stoutin ja IPAn parhaat puolet. Tästä panimosta on tulossa yksi ruotsalaisista suosikeistani. Ainoa miinus on ohuehko suutuntuma, jota onneks katkerot nostavat paremmaksi.

Black color with generous beige creamy head. Nice aroma, hoppy and resiny, with hop cones, then roasted malts. The mouthfeel is smooth but also quite dry; the flavor balances very well mild tones of malt, roasted malts with quality hopping; pleasant hop resins, with some citrusy (orange) character; long final; never ashy nor excessive.
Very well brewed.

Black color with beige creamy head. Very nice aroma of green grassy hops, with a citrusy touch. Smooth mouthfeel, soft flavor of roasted malts, some dark chocolate, light pleasant yeast, correct bitterness with a touch of hop resins and some tea. Dry but balanced final.
Very nice.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20130208) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had pine, sweetness, chocolate and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, Belgian style yeast, roaste malts, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty, hoppy and bitter and also there was grilled sausage. A confusing Black IPA. It had the typical characters of a Bamberg smoked beer and an Imperial Stout.
