3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Jan & Charlottes tasting, Ulfborg, Denmark 09.04.11 cheers Jan & Charlotte Dark brown appearance, this tastes quite thin after the Cigar City, Brewdog and Dugges beers just consumed and yet it is much more up my street. Very smooth, some sweetness, lovely coffee flavours more like a cappucino though as there is a milky smooth edge, alcohol is really well hidden. V. nice beer. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
250mL courtesy of omhper! The pour is a pretty tepid, deep ruby black with rings of bubbles on the edge of the Hair of the Dog tasting glass. Nose is huge black cherries, sweet maple, small tawny port notes, small umami/savory/soy character. Almost like a Belgian quad or Gouden Carolus Noel nose. No coffee, roast, cocoa. Taste Is sweet black cherry, cherry licorice, small amounts of ash. But still comes across as very Belgian strong like with massive dark fruits (prunes, dates). A little sweet for porter. Could use some bitterness. Richer palate. Works well as a dessert beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black color; small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, leather, vanilla, tar, light phenls. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is a bit oily; good flavor, caramel, chocolate, some roasted malts, light tar, medium liquorice (maybe too much for me). Correct bitterness, with pleasant alcohol warmth. More solid and decadent than vibrant, but very good.
