2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Vignale (1372) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 29, 2013

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 FatPhil (7509) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 8, 2013
Tap (Kuikka, Helsinki)
Wow - what an aroma! Not a typical weizenbock at all, this is throbbing with fruity aromatic hops. Very nice taste, has some of the darker aspects of rye, lots of wholegrain toast crusts. This needs a lot of swirling, it’s rather fizzy currently (latter half of keg). Some nice toffee tones, and some great earthy bitter retronasals. And the finish has just tons of lovely tingly hops. Excellent hybrid. It’s like a rye IPA brewed with wheat. After the swirling, it’s less aggrrssive in the palate, and just a little sticky, but with lip-smacking hoppy bitterness. This beer is the one I shall use to raise a glass to John Smith, the last decent English politition who came anywhere near the PM’s seat, on the occasion of the 30-years-too-late death of the Poll Muddle Tartyr - the Iron lady herself - Maggie fucking Thatcher.

On tap at Bishops Arms Vasagatan. Pours hazy copper, small head. Good hoppy caramel in the nose and mouth combined with wheaty tartness. Quite nice, though not a typical Weizenbock.
