Copenhagen 15/5 2015. 33 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsen Vinhandel. Beautifully simplistic design on label. A big letter "Ø" with the silhouet of a bottle inside. Pours hazy amber with big yellowish head. Settles in 0,5 cm layer og foam. Aroma is sweet and intensely fruity. Notes of citrus provides a little sourness. Medium carbonation. Taste is not as sweet as indicated by the aroma but rather bitter and a little sour. Long aftertaste with dry finish. Fine American Pale Ale from Thurø.

12,12,11,12,13,12 - 11,90

330ml bottle. Hazy amber colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Cautiously fruity, hoppy aroma with a touch of grapefruit and blood orange. Taste is slightly grainy, bready, bitter and minimally fruity hoppy overtones, a touch of tartness, blood orange, orange zest, hints of sweat and resin. Not really convincing.

0.33l bottle. This is a fairly blurry deep orange, most a bit amber colored one and it has a medium sized bubbly light beige top. Nice lacings. The nose is filled with a earthy nutty bitterness and some caramel sweetness. A little bit of birch as well here. Not directly fresh, but fair I guess. It has a good earthy bitterness in the taste as well this. Feels light oily in the mouth and it has a just above average carbonation level. Is this perhaps a English style American Pale Ale? I get some light burned hints as well here and a little bit of white licorice and seltin salt. Mildly put a good amount of malty caramel. Feel it’s quite untypical for an APA, I would at least never have guessed that in a blind test, but it’s not bad tasting. 04.11.2013
