Too clean appearance and light copper with small head. Light toffee, light toasty, some caramel. Hopless. Simple taste, light sweet, industrial appeal, light biscuity. It’s okay at best. (Taster at the brewpub)

(Rating #4916)

On Tap, bière cuivrée claire, mousse moyenne.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a crystal clear, amber colored body with an inch thick, foamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is grainy, lightly sweetened malts with touches of caramel, hints of fruit, and a light herbal hop spice. Flavor is better. Still grainy and lightly sweetened with a touch of caramel, but a decent herbal bitterness throughout keeps things interesting. Finishes dry and somewhat bitter with a touch of smoke, actually. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent amber. Nothing special, but fairly bitter and the touch of smoke is unique. Not bad.

Thought I was drinking this until I learned that it was the Noel beer. I asked for a sample of the regular Amber but I homely couldn’t tell much of a difference. Orange with a red tint and a thin, sticky, frothy, lasting white head. Smells of red berries, light roast with some herbal elements. Some mild caramel. Medium oily body. Tastes of light roasted malt with caramel but all that is overtaken by the berry fruit. Simple yet nice and easy to drink.

Pours a deep amber with a nice inch of froth. Aroma is toasty with a light caramel background and some spicy hop notes. Tastes of caramel, biscuits and a trace of nuttiness balanced with a spicy hop bite in the finish. Again easy drinking.
