Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jun 26, 2009 Sample draft at the Stone tasting inTallahassee. This one was pretty much exactly what I expected, Arrogant Bastard with a nice earthy charred wood accent that fills it more flavor. Outstanding. omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA Jun 25, 2009 This isn’t for everyone. It’s got some serious bite to it, but the oaking gives is a nice, full flavor. I highly recommend it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Makes a great float. nerdrocker101 (102), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 24, 2009 Bottle. Much like the version that hasn’t been oak aged. The oak seems to round out the beer creating some wood, fruit flavors. Maybe it’s just me, but I like it better with the stronger flavors. Arrogant Bastard is like a wonderful kick in the face. With the oak aging it’s like that kick in the face comes from a foot that is wrapped with a pillow. It’s still good, but it’s just not the same. Does any of the make sense? Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 23, 2009 Sampled before, but this time poured at Made in the Shade 2009. Pours deep brown/red with decent-sized head. Fruity/oak aroma. Taste is unbelievably over-the-top fruity. This fruitiness clashes with the high level of hops. Not very good at all. The un-oaked is still better. sbroome (71), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2009 medium brown ale with sweet and woody nose. medium body with taste of sweet wood and bitter hops. the oak aging of this ale leaves a dry taste in your mouth. Good, but not great, like other stones. hoppopotamus (182), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jun 20, 2009 A hazy brown beer with a fluffy tan head that sticks around and leaves lace. Much browner and more opaque than the original. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, whiskey, boozey, oaky, some dark fruit.Hop aroma has seriously died down with the oak aging. Flavor is roasted malt, oak, prune and raisin, vanilla, and a lot of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel could be a little chewier for such a malty brew. A fun alternative to the original, good beer but I prefer original. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 19, 2009 Bottle. Small beige light creamy head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Amber color. Aroma of oak, caramel, peach, grape, citrus. Over the palate came dry wood, liquorish and fruit. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and dry light alcoholic texture. Heavy bitter and sweet flavor. Lingering bitter woody dry finish. jason1625 (4), USA does not count Jun 19, 2009 A very good ale. Nice blance of oak and hops. A great ber for special occasions. Price puts it on that "I can find something that tastes almost as good for 1/2 the price" list.
