| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 8, 2009 Red brow pour with an off white head. Strong aroma of hops and some alcohol. I thought the flavor was somewhere in between Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard. Couldn’t pick out much oak in the aroma or flavor. Bitterness and alcohol finish. A slightly strong Arrogant Bastard. AtlAggie (132), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Deep reddish brown with a thin light brown head. Aroma strongly of hops, citrus, lemon, and faint wood traces. Flavor dominated by floral hops, grapefruit, lemon, quite bitter. Surprisingly little oak, given the name--was expecting more oak, smoke, maybe some earthiness, none of which I found. Definitely an aggressive beer, with a strong and lingering bitterness on the finish. Definitely an unusual ale--not really my thing, but can see how it would appeal to some. tokyogoat (507), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 7, 2009 Dark ruby / brown with a very small head.
Smells of the obvious oak and a little bit of fruit.
The oak hits first, some piny hops follow it, some sweet fruit, then finishes with some dry stickiness of oak again.
The oak is definitely the glue arrogant bastard always need to hold all of these aggressive flavors together. shawnm213 (913), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2009 12 oz bottle. pours ruby red with a nice big frothy lasting beige head. notes of grapefruit, hops, caramel, and alcohol leading to a bitter, citrusy finnish. slightly creamy mouthfeel. daleharshman (186), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2009 Growler from brewery. Actually the first time to have the oaked version. Pours a very deep and dark red, bordering on brown. Big beige head.
Aroma altogether more mellow than the regular AB, but with some of the same bready malts and light(er) hop citrus. Only a hint of wood in the nose. Flavor is also quite similar to the regular AB. Really not catching much oak in the flavor...is it just me? Strong hop flavor with some grapefruit. The malt flavor is present as well and overall well-balanced, though the bitterness does win. Sharp hop bitterness in the finish. Really not much to distinguish from the regular Arrogant Bastard.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Poured nice rich copper, slightly hazy. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, and pine, and a nice crisp feel on the palate. Fairly bitter with nice hoppy flavor, that is balanced extremely well with the oak flavor for the finish. Excellent idea!
