Ryan/Casey. Dark brown with oily head. Hoppy nose. Prickly mouthfeel. Taste of hops and orange. Has a nice kick to it. Then some oak and warming. Hoppy finish. Excellent.

Think Arrogant Bastard. Alcoholic, pine hop profile, and throw in a oakey somewhat smokey flavor and its wonderful. Makes drinking a bit easier.

Pours a clear dark red with big white foam. Taste is sweet and lots of hops. Big difference with the wood, nice smoothed out flavor.Same bastard, goes down faster. Great stuff!!!

This beer is so much like the original AB but just a little more balanced. The piney hop flavor and alcohol tones are dialed down a bit with the oak chips. Very nice flavor. I enjoy anything from Stone. They do it right!!

Angry (bottle). I thought it was smoother and more refined than the regular Bastard, but the hopiness still kicked me in the teeth. Finish lasted quite a while and was more pleasant than the first bitterness you get. Overall impression was helped by the cool bottle.

(Bottle from McKean and Charles) Pours reddish dark amber with a thin light amberish-biege head. Aroma of sweat and pine needles. As it warms some light fruit arises from the sweat. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth but lightly pebbly. Some fine weepy lacing and a syrupy film inside of snifter. Flavor is heavy and harsh hops - mostly sweat with some pine. Big and bitter through the finish. No hint anywhere of the oak aging. I think this was actually the harshest of the three Bastards I’ve had. Just a full-on hop assault.

Taste 2/9 Bottle. Looks: Deep iced tea colored body. Thin, clinging head. Aroma: Blend of alcohol, wood and caramel malt. Taste: Pleasantly surprised. Expected a harsh flavor, but I like this more than the regular Bastard. Evenly balanced flavor. Even though it is heavy in malt and hops, the wood without smoke flavor blends well. So far this is my favorite Stone.

A- Pours a clear dark red hue with a large off-white creamy head and thick, sticky lacing throughout S- Wow, nose is dominated by intriguing oak and vanilla aromas, some sweet caramel malts, subtle hops, and a fair alcohol presence T- Taste begins with some tone-downed caramel malts and vanilla and citrus tones, followed by pine bitterness and alcohol, finishing with brief dry hoppiness M- Medium-bodied, quite watery, smoother than the original AB, lively carbonation D- Smooth and unique, I have been a big fan of Oaked AB for a while. From the bottle is not as great as draft/growler, but this is still a highly drinkable strong ale especially compared to AB and Double AB. The alcohol is well-masked and I could drink several in a session with no qualms.
