ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Apr 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a chestnut amber with brown head and good lacing. Aroma is citrus hops and a little dry woodiness. Mostly bitter and dry with citrus and a woody malt finish. Nice and hoppy, but nothing special. I think I like the regular bastard better, but this is a good beer. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Apr 20, 2008 On tap at Sunset Grill in westend Boston. Dark brown with tan head, much darker than the regular one, I thought I had the wrong beer. Tasty, woody, malty, hoppy. Surprisingly different than the regular, not as bitter grapefruit. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Apr 19, 2008 Updated: Jun 12, 2008(Sample from April 2008 Beer Club Meeting) Cloudy amber-brown color with solid lacing. Bubbles! Smells grapefruity, sweet. Tastes sweet and floralish, like it’s trying to be strong with a syrupy aftertaste. Am I getting so old that even something this neat makes me bored? Someone, please, just slap me in the face. Still, though, the numbers add up. All around, a great beer! Oh yeah, this was oak? I forgot all about that.

almost black pour with a 1 finger cream head. big notes of oak and malts with the hops in the background. nice creamy mouthfeel with the hops coming through very strong with citrus notes. the finish is very smooth and the wood is very noticeable now. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Apr 16, 2008 Updated: Sep 11, 2009bottle on 4/5/08 - rating from notes taken. Pours a deep amber with a 1/4" head... big oak and malty aroma. Smooth over the palate with a malty backbone, spicy on the tip and lots of oak on the finish with some bitterness as well. Really nice twist on the amazing Arrogant Bastard. stetzel (22), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 15, 2008 reddish amber color.very oaky nose, with a slight vanilla nose.good up front vanilla(oak)flavor good malt, and hop backbone.this is a good beer to start, with for people new to oak barrel beers. yumyum (118), barrie, Ontario, Canada Apr 14, 2008 reddish amber colour, smells very woody on the nose. flavour very nice, wood flavour especially on the finish with some slight hoppiness and fruitiness. A good beer DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 14, 2008 Pours a very dark copper with a half inch of creamy yellowish head. Sweet aroma of caramel, apples, and wood. Excellent caramel flavor at first with a fruitiness in the middle that gives way to a really nice oaky and smooth finish. The oak and the hops really play on each other’s strengths.
