Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Mar 30, 2008 Nov. 2007 - Much improved version of the AB. The oak flavor adds a bit of sweetness and takes the edge off the sharp bitterness. Beautiful appearance, cider brown, huge head and fabulous lacing. Aroma was nice of pine hops. Again, lots of pine hops, but not overbearing...strong caramel malt aroma with oakiness. Not overly sweet and some dry mouthfeel. Pretty good. BrewmeisterEd (59), USA Mar 30, 2008 Poured a translucent brown with an off white head that dissipated quickly but left a lot of lacing. Smells of pine. Sweet tasting and hard for me to isolate the ’oak’, but really tasty nonetheless. Solid feel and holds its own against the non-oaked variety. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 30, 2008 Bottled.
Copper colour with a beige head.
Fruity aroma with oak and some alcohol.
Fruity flavour; apricots, peaches.
Warming alcohol and a strong bitterness. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 30, 2008 Updated: Jan 1, 2009Bottle at Toms Glasgow tasting 2 ... Smells rich, hoppy, even sweet (and with a wiff of, I swear, Old Bay). Tastes complex, hoppier than expected, oakiness present. Finishes rich and warming; nice brew BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 28, 2008 Bottled. Deep mahogany colour with ruby red highlights. Medium tan head that dissolves into a film. Very hoppy and fruity aroma with just a hint of woody oak. Very piney flavour up front with a very smooth finish. Nice and mellow ASA where the hops don’t assault you from beginning to end. RagtimeJarhead (3), Toledo, Ohio, USA does not count Mar 28, 2008 Bottle. citrus aroma. pours amber brown with a bit of a light brown head. Bitter enough for me. Finishes clean with a noticeably good aftertaste. Good brew. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Mar 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep brown with creamy tan head. Light hop aroma.
