This is quite nice. Very smooth and rich. I recall some vanilla and bourbon, but also with all the good stuff I enjoy from the regular arrogant bastard. I’m glad they made this.

Dark brown-red with big foamy tan head. Fresh hops on the nose. Taste - resinous hops with a rich malt. I'm usually not big on Oakes beers but I think this complements AB well. The oak isn't subtle but not overpowering either. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a mostly clear reddish brown, with tan head. Woody, oaky aroma, caramel malt, earthy hops. Very oak forward flavor followed by hop flavor and moderate bitterness.

An old standby that we used to not see often enough. Bottle- pours clear mahogany, milky, khaki head that persists with nice lacing. Nose of spices, oak chips, honey, herbal hops and some bread. Rich, milky mouthfeel. On the tongue, peat, oak, spices, caramel malt sweetness, vanilla and then the standby Stone long bitter finish. American strong ale with a kick. Love this stuff ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a clear, bright amber/crimson color with a big, frothy off-white head and good sticky lacing. Aroma is pleasant gingerbread-like spiciness with sweet malt and a nice earthiness. Taste is roasted malt with the gingerbread spice, sweet plum, caramel, vanilla, oak. Has a fairly intense grassy, floral bitterness at the end accompanied by some alcohol taste. Had a nice rounded medium mouthfeel that is dry and somewhat astringent at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bitterness and smokiness, nice and easy to drink. Dark amber/ brown, aroma of wood chips, peat, Taste is mildly sweet up front, with bitterness on the backside.. High ABV masked by the smoky bitterness.

Dark copper, head towers over the beer but collapses quickly, leaving spots on the glass. Earthy nose. Medium body, well carbonated, lean texture, avg length. Very bitter for the style and this lasts to the end. Lively mouthfeel, dry, well carbonated, bitter, dry, rather medicinal finish. Hoppy but not in a good way, not my concept of oaky. A lot of personality but not easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very tasty beer. Bottle pour into a Shaker. Beautiful deep red color, minimal off white head. Aroma off the charts, I was getting pleasant aromas while it was sitting on the counter after pouring. Lots of hops and roasty malts, some orange marmalade. Taste is superb piney hops with strong malt backbone touch of coffee. Deliberate bitterness that is well balanced. Excellent beer would like to taste side by side with original Arrogant Bastard to better appreciate the oak aspect. Highly Recommended.

12 oz bottle, purchased at Hy-Vee Muscatine ($3) and poured into a pint glass at home. 7 weeks past its enjoy by date. Brown and clear with a lasting tan head, thick lacing. Aroma of oak, earthy hops, bitter chocolate, caramel and toasted malts. Similar flavor, strongly bitter and woody with light alcohol and a lingering, dry finish. Medium body, soft and smooth. Not too fresh.
