Citrus/grapefruit aroma. Beautiful red in color with light tan head. Head is very long lasting, and slowly subsides to nice lacing. Nicely carbonated. Flavor is very sweet, starting with a hint of caramel and hazelnut. This fades to a pleasant citrus hop flavor with a hint of oak, but never loses its sweetness. Nice clean mouthfeel. Overall, the most complex flavor profile, and well balanced beer I have ever had. Very good. Very drinkable.

Tap. Pours light cloudy amber with tobacco creamy beige head, lasting head, some sediment. Aroma is yeast, sugar, old hops, vanilla, dry oak, fudge, fruity berries, strawberries, candied sugar, toffee and tobacco. Taste is malty yammy caramel, sweet and really toasty, raisins, oak, vanilla, red berries and tobacco. Dry finish, light bitter hops to balance out the sweet malts.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass very cloudy mahogany in color with a nice head, leaving a solid lacing on the glass, slight smell of bourbon, tasted kind roasted nuts and caramel with a slight bourbon burn at the end of the sip

Backlog from old tastenotes: Aroma is malty and hoppy, and there are hints of wet wood. Taste is malty with a hoppy-ish and vanilla-wood sensation. Warming finish with some pine and dark fruit.

Bottle at Haket. A very muddy look, dark and with granules of oak(?). Aroma of strong, malty ale and whisky, at least a hint of oak. Taste is complex and rich. A surprisingly good ale!

Bottle: BB is partially obscured but is last year. Nose is vanilla, oak, slight bourbon quality, sweet cherry, cream, very sweet cola, extremely appealing. Taste is malty, smoked, oak, bitter resinous hops, slight licorice hint of vanilla, leading to a woody, almost salty, bitter finish. Mouthfeel is slick. A nice beer, but not as outstanding as the nose implied.

Old rating. The oak chips help balance out the giant malt and hoppiness of the bastard. Still nice dark fruit and sweetness. Strong stuff, not mind blowing but good.

Everything in the Arrogant Bastard plus the oak. I liked this better, but I like oak. Not too big on oak so good! It seemed the oak helped balance out the caramel I complained about in my AB rating. Perfect brew in my opinion.
