3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MechanicalMind (22) - Crawley, West Sussex, - FEB 23, 2012Bottle. Pours ruby with a creamy mahogany tinged head. Aroma is burnt caramel, sweet malt and sticky hops. Big malt backbone from the off, toffee, burnt sugar, treacle, piney hop creeping in and finishing with a lingering bitter kick and a staying smoky quality resting on the back of your tongue that kind of just dominates out the other flavours in the end. A good beer but just a big malty hop bomb with no endearing qualities

Final seco, amargo e duradouro. Ótima breja!

2007 bottle. Way past the bb4 date. Murky brown pour with a tan head. Oxidized aroma - sherry, figs, cardboard and oak. Flavours of wet oak, figs, caramel, dark fruit. There’s some bitterness on the finish, which works well. Just a shadow of what this beer once was. Still enjoyable, though.

Pours a dark red with a fluffy tan head. Very malty and oaky nose, maybe a bit of dark cherries, sweet, and hints of vanilla. Tons of oak on the taste as well, slightly muted citrus and floral hops, molasses, vanilla, and dark fruits. Medium body and carbonation, well balanced and a nice dry finish.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 samsmith33 (195) - - JUN 1, 2013
Aroma is pure hops and barley. Dark copper color, but translucent. Small white head. Thin feel. Low carbonation. A bit too strong and bitter, though I think the oaked version of this beer us a touch smoother than the original. Good flavor, but all the pieces don’t come together here.
