OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale pours a deep red/bronze color with a finger and half width off white head, which leaves an attractive lacing on the glass. The aromas feel subdued a bit, and I am only really smelling a hint of sweet malt and an even smaller hint of pine. OAKED ABA is very malt forward in flavor, but just as the beer gets to the back of your mouth, a hop/oak bitterness kicks in. A great beer, which only gets better as it warms. The body on this one is average, not too heavy, and not too light. The carbonation is aggressive, but not detracting in any way. There is only a light hint of alcohol at the end.

A- Vigorously poured with a 1in head. Brownish red in color with a tan head fading and leaving a nice lacing. S- A very nice oak character. T- Hoppy and oaky. Not one over powers the other and they work well together. M- woody if there is such a thing. O- I definitely feel like the regular version of this is better. The oak gives it a nice difference but doesnt add much in a positive way,

Poured from a bottle. Color is a deep amber color with a good amount of carbonation that keeps the mouthfeel light. The taste is heavy with malty sweetness and a good amount of bitterness on the back end. This is a great beer, but it may be a bit much for someone new to the style.

Look: pours a cloudy light brown. Just a little darker than amber. Off light tan head that disappears quickly. Smell: oak. Hops. Alcohol. Tobacco. Taste: oak, alcohol. Tobacco, like an unlit cigar. Black pepper. Feel: thick mouth feel. Leaves a film on the mouth. Fairly heavy carbonation. Overall: don't like this near as much as am regular arrogant. Not sure if it is the oak or what but not quite as good. First drank: home 7/15/14

Bottle. Pours a beautiful copper-red with a huge beige head and lots of lacing. Aromas of malts, dark fruits, and oak. Creamy, medium-bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Sweet flavor up front followed by strong bitterness from hops and oak. Very nice beer but not for the faint of heart.

Aroma is burned toast, dark berries and oak. Interesting despite muddled hop-notes. Taste is driven forward by cherry notes and then consumed by toasted malt and woody pangs. Bitterness is grainy and unrefined. Becomes a little torturous towards the bottom of the glass. It’s a very savoury-oriented beer and is inaccessible to anyone other than the most ardent drinker.
