3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Dense, deep amber color with a thick, beige head that leaves excellent lacing. Strong "Stone" hope profile, complete with pungent-ass pines and fully loaded, resinous hop oils. Bittersweet citrus rinds and moderately sweet orange peels. Hefty bouts of toasted bread and sweet caramel from a generous malt bill mesh with the dry, woody, and boozy oak of the brew. Hoppage is more subtle and smooth than the original Arrogant Bastard. Malt and hops are 50/50 here with an additional woody-oak presence. Thick body but not too sticky. Toffee, caramel, pines, resin, and dry oak finish. Both bitter and sweet. Good beer... I don’t think I love it, though.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Foggy ruby with long lasting rocky half inch of foam. Aroma is toffee, candy, pine, oak, vanilla. Taste is significantly bitter. Oak is there, but fairly subtle. Honestly there’s more "just bitter" than interesting flavours it seems. Good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a darker amber color with an averaged off white head. Woody aroma with light vanilla. I found the woodiness to really come out in the flavor (a lot stronger vs. the aroma). Malts in hops in there as well. Lighlty sweet.

"this beer was very good. it mellowed most all that i didn’t particularly care for in the regular AB. Very smooth, as the oak aging treated this beer VERY well."

Really good brew...not too oaky thouigh...I am not bitching cuz I do not like a ton of unbalanced oak. Big malts and great hops as stone always does.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle to Nonic Pint glass. Pours a rusty red with off white foam and lacing till the last drink. Carmel and vanilla aroma with a hint of oak. I picked up some toffee, citrus, and oak flavors. Finishes with a chocolaty and dry finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (12oz $3.25): Pours a dark golden or redish brown. Little head, but nice lacing. Nice carbonation. Where it falls down with me is that over burn/toasted favors and the lingering bitterness.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is dark brown and slightly hazy. Aroma is sweet malts with dark fruits. Prune notes and some vanilla. Taste is a lot drier than expected. Punchy resinous bitterness which is backed up by the dried fruit flavors. Some burned coffee notes too. The woody notes from the oak chips are not dominant but add to the complexity of this brew. Great beer!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dominated by a long, dry, hoppy bitterness. A fair amount of dark, dried fruits in there, but not a whole lot of oak. Arrogant it is, but also immensely tasty.
