This is an excellent beer. The color is akin to Oktoberfest. The aroma is both floral and herbal. The taste is rich and malty, but with proper hopping for style. My one complaint is that though the oak certainly adds to the quality and character of the beer, I cannot sort it out of either the nose or palate.

Clear, copper-red-brown beer with a lot of yeast parts in the beer. White-beige, three finger high, fluffy, head thats leaves a LOT of lacing on the glass. Almoust chunk of head left!

Nose: Butter, smoke, oak, wood, vanilla and hops.
Taste: Bread, caramel malt, dried fruit, molasses, grapefruit and oak.
Body: Medium to full body. Great bitterness.

A beatiful beer with an ABV of 7.2% that is very well hidden. Great taste and mothfeel! I recommend it!

Deep amber/copper pour with a 3/4 inch long lasting light tan head.. great lacing. Big bitter smell and pine/citrus polished off with freshly sanded wood ... toasted malts and fresh biscuits. Taste is BIG. BITTER with enough sweetness to balance nicely. There is a looong finish here. Creamy cocoa, vanilla, harsh pine needles and grapefruit bitterness, just simply a thick thick thick palate ... sooo many things going on here ... when said and done, a dry piney/lip smacking woodiness sticks around for ages.

Appears a dark garnet hue and makes a thick creamy offwhite head. The in-your-face chinook hops that are present in regular arrogant bastard ale are nearly gone here and replaced with a very smooth oaky/vanilla. Flavor is very round about the most well balanced I have ever seen from a Stone product. The elements of the chinook hops are again subdued by a velvety layering of vanilla. This is very rich. Medium to full body on the palate with a very creamy finish. I really wish this were a regular offering, it is incredible.

Poured a dark bronze with a thin light head. Aromas of caramel, toasty grains, and apricot. Tastes of roasted nuts, smokey wood chips and sweet malt. Medium body with mild carbonation. Overall very good.

Bottle from ABC. Pours a thick, dark brown with a very thin head; gone almost instantly. Smells of caramel maltiness and faint vanilla. Dark fruits abound. The oak taste definitely comes through for me. Full bodied, oily, thick mouthfeel and a really smooth finish. Acquire. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Deep amber color with ¼ inch cream head. Head appears to have viscosity of whipped cream. No real lacing to speak of. Smell: Caramelly, molasses-like. Bananas and rum. Oaky. Taste: Surprisingly balanced, based on the smell and oak-aging. Not too sweet. Starts with gentle, bubbly carbonation followed by a creamy, rich mouthfeel. Hop bitterness comes through fairly strong for the style. Definitely tasting the oak and maltiness as it finishes, and a warm heat exudes from the alcohol. Overall: Pleasing aromas and a very well-balanced beer. A little thinner than I imagined, but other than that it is high-quality.
