4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark burgundy body with a rich creamy head - on tap in a pint glass. Amazing layers of flavor, as the subtle oak tones blend perfectly with the dominant hops and hints of pumpernickel.

Bottle, 660ml. A clear dark reddish beer with some sediments and a small foamy head. Deep oaked aroma of malt, spices, alcohol and firewood. Taste is bitter with a strong malt finish. Robust bodied with some carbonation and astrigency. Rich aftertaste of malt and spices with an alcoholic finish. A proper American Strong Ale.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 660ml. Deep reddish with heavy sediment and a lively, frothy brown head. Rich roasted caramel and fruity aromas. Medium to robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet malt character with a stinging dry hoppy bitterness. Absolutely delicious, this is how beer should be.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with almost no head. Dark Amber color. Tastes of rich malts. There is lots of herbal flavor in there. Lots of resin from the hops on the back end. Just a tad of oak that I can detect. Not bad but Iím my opinion just a slight upgrade from the base.

650ml bottle. Pours a clear, orange brown with a huge, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces nicely. Strong hoppy aroma of grapefruit, oak, caramel malt, fruit and pine needles. 4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From bomber, pours red with a one-finger yellow head. Aroma and taste of caramel. Taste is in-your-face bitter caramel, some citrus with a gentle sweetness. I would expect to find some vanilla notes here from the oak, but they donít really come through - perhaps because everything else is so big. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: clear medium amber with one finger of dense light tan head, good retention and lacing. (4/5) Aroma: caramel/toffee, pine, woody, citrus, tobacco, mild vanilla, hint of spicy rye. (9/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, strong bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5)
Big oaky bastard with huge maltiness that is nevertheless just barely sufficient to balance the massive bitterness. Subtle, it ainít, but man, itís good. (17/20)
