12 fl oz bottle bought via Beers of Europe. Dark amber/red beer with little aroma and a thin lacy head that soon disappeared. Some oak on the tongue but mainly bags of bitterness with hops in the background, giving the beer great balance and taste. A complex & satisfying ale well worth seeking out.

Pours a dark amber copper with medium white head, very little lacing. Aroma obvious of hops and oak. Flavor is more mild than AB, but just doesnít give any extra complexity to the brew, quite disappointing. Not a bad brew anyway, just not better than AB.

12oz bottle. Pours deep red with a frothy white head. Aroma is of caramel, grassy hops, sugar, oak, and wood. Taste is of grassy hops , caramel, malt, dark fruit, a little smokiness, and oak. Lingering woodiness and hops. The alcohol is present, but isnít a problem. Lots of sugar to it as well. Moutheel is medium and lightly carbonated. Finish is very hoppy with a slight alcohol burn. I was slightly dissapointed by this beer, anticipating it to be way hoppier than it was. Although the oak was a nice compliment to it.

Oak not overpowering, which is good, but I wasnít blown away. With all the hype, I guess I was expecting more out of this beer.

Draught at MacGregors in Henrietta. Fruity aroma of hops, rich malt, citrus, and oak. Big alcohol in the mouth, and big hops. Burning... Sweet caramel malt and some oak as well. Big and interesting, with huge flavor, though devoid of balance and a bit sloppy. Slightly unpleasant to me.

330 ml bottle. Hazy brown colour. Small off-white head. Vanilla aroma and grassy hops. Lacking its usual liveliness that you find in the regular version. Oily texture with a lot of bittering hops, vanilla and dark malts. Not at all bad, but it feels a little non-harmonic. One can also taste the wood. Astringent tannins and oak character. Finish is quite bitter, but the residual sweetness can handle that nicely.

Pours like a reddish shade of iced tea with quickly fading creamy off-white head. Aroma of raisins, malt, caramel, raspberries, and pine. Flavor is not heavy but intense of pine hops with some caramel in the background. An increasingly bitter finish but still on the smooth side. Some hoppy goodness.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2011 I didnít particularly like this at all on my first taste, but it got better as the bottle progressed. The bottle was a gusher but showed no identifiable signs of infection, this type of rusticity are the sort of thing a guy like me loves, even if the flavor of the ale its self is as refined as this one. The color on this beer is beautiful, a deep red with a medium head that goes away leaving only a small film on top of the beer. The aroma is a little faint, which surprised the hell out of me, but what was there was fruity, woody, and hoppy with just a whiff of cherry. The flavor was woody, with notes of spice and ginger, some cherry, of course a substantial enough hop bitterness although this seemed mellowed in comparison to the regular arrogant bastard. There was some general fruitiness as well, but mostly what I tasted here was raw wood. I can honestly say Iíd like to try this again.

Pours red with a tan head. The aroma is fruity with grapefruit, cherries, grapes, and a hint of wood. The flavor is sweet and bitter with cherries dominating. Its actually a lot like cherry flavored cough syrup, with a hint of cherry vanilla coke. Sweet and spicy. There is some grainy malt flavor toward the finish, which is dry, woody, and bitter. This is an OK beer.

Very dark amber with a thick tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is lots of hops and a little malt. Taste is a not overly hoppy pale ale and the oak seems to mellow the flavor a bit over the Stone AB that Iíve had. Hoppy, yet very smooth with some maltiness at the end.
