12oz bottle poured in frozen mug. Dark mahogany in color with a dark eggshell, khaki head. Head was thick and light. Aroma oak, hops, and fruit. Very malty, pine, walnut, slight vanilla, grapefruit. Leaves you with a sweetness, slight alcohol warming and lasting prominent but not overpowering bitterness. Dry finish. Highly recommended.

Pours a deep dark ruby red body, little to no head. A malty and wood like aroma. Upfront bitter fruit taste, lovely caramel middle taste, bitter hoppy aftertaste. This is an amazing beer from an amazing brewery; lovely aroma and a well developed taste!

Oaked arrogant bastard gets 5 stars from the beer drinkers union. We recently had a fresh taste of it by visiting Stone Brewery in Escondido. Had a great time with exceptional brews. The great oak hoppy flavor of this beer is exceptional and very smooth.

Piney spruce, sweet aroma. Reddish amber in color. Yellow-tan head. Almost perfect. Yummy. I don’t detect any oak, however. Thanks slikwily for sending this. What a bottle. I didn’t realize that this brew was only available in the 3 liter bottle.

A strongly hopped, alcoholic ale with a fruity, hoppy aroma. The aftertaste is spectacular. This beer simply explodes with flavor on contact with the tongue. Excellent beer!

Draft at the Drafting Room. Wow. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time. The pour was turbid brown with a 1-finger light tan, milkshakey head. The aroma was of oaky bourbon, some caramel malts, hops, and berry esters. The taste was caramel malty initially, with a mid-palate burst of slightly rauchy, fruity, oaky bourbon. Very creamy palate, and dense. I’d love to side-by-side this with Insanity. As it warmed, it gained the character of a fine bourbon, and I yearned for a cigar to accompany it. This one is outstanding!

3 Qt. 5.4 Fl. oz. bottle: Oh yeah, after seeing this last year and still not finding a place that had this beer on tap within a 25 mile radius i decided to pick one up for Chistmas day to make sure i was merry all day long. Pous with a rigorous amount of khaki colored foam and a deep mahogany darker than i remember the original arrogant bastard being. Aroma is more tame and relaxed but still has its usual malt profile, although, i dont recognize any hops but instead some minor notes of spice and of course some wood.
The drink is sticky and smooth with a well balance of malt and hops found in the flavor. Malt flavor is still strong but now has wood attached to it. I find the wood changing the personality of this beer towards a much more mellow strong ale all around. As for the hops they become apparent but are so well hidden that i find it hard to say anything about them other than there a little tart and tangy in the fashion of grapefruit juice. Again an amazing texture that finishes clean but yet leaves behind a reminder of oak aftertaste.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 jackamackson (127) - USA - AUG 6, 2005
had this at a fest. dark red pour, tan head. aroma is woody, lots of hops, nutty/caramel. flavor is a good caramel malt underside with oak note with a strong hop presence, especially in the finish. full mouthfeel. regular AB is one of my go-to beers, and this just adds to it a little. if only it was available in small bottles.

I am not going to go into heavy detail here. It has all been said. Less hoppy than the original with a wood flavour instead. VERY nice. Another outstanding Stone brew! I happened to meet them at a beer convention on Long Island, NY just before the release of the 6.6.6 last year. Very nice guys! Keep up the great work!
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (2453) - Georgia, USA - NOV 26, 2008
This ale is a beautiful deep reddish mahogany, and pours with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma is rich and hoppy with a definite smoky oak overtone. Flavor is almost indescribably delicious - mainly hoppy with malty, nutty, smoky and even sweet hints, and definitely some contribution from the oak chips. Texture is supremely smooth, and leaves a very pleasingly hoppy and smoky aftertaste. A winner!
