Dark brown pour with some head and pretty flat. Strong aroma of malt, sugar, hops, and oats. Couldn’t get too much woody aroma or flavor out of this one, but have had other bottles that do. Flavors are similar to aroma with sweet, hops and bitter providing the biggest contributions.

Sep 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle consumed on 9-3-08. Pleasant, sweet, oaky, malty aroma features vanilla from the oak, pine and citrus (especially grapefruit) from the hops, and cookie, biscuit, and raisin from the malt. Pours a clear, brilliant, dark copper with an amber to red hue. Light effervescence. Large amount of uneven, light tan, thick, fluffy head. Some sporadic lacing. Delicious, rich, dry taste. Piney, citrusy hops. Sweet, oaky flavor. Fruity maltiness emerges as it warms: Watermelon, prune, peach. Lightly bitter finish. Dry aftertaste. Medium to heavy body. This is my kind of beer! It’s very good, though not great, all around.

Sep 7, 2008 Deep amber color with a somewhat lumpy, inconsistent head. Aromas of pine and fruit cocktail. The taste is very good, toasty caramel layered over with pine, fruity, and oak notes. Creamy rich body. A lot of fruitiness on the finish with more woody notes coming through late. Distinctive without being outrageous. Recommended.

Sep 6, 2008 (Bottle). Tangy citrus aroma. Beautiful mahogany color with thin head. Flavor is fruity and medium sweet, lots of apricot/citrus tanginess. Somewhat bitter finish.

Sep 5, 2008 12oz bottle: pours dark amber brown with long lasting off white head, aroma slightly hoppy with some hints of malt, flavor like a srong pale ale with hints of oak and caramel. not over the top in any way i dont see how its so arrogant but it is what it is pretty good.
