ThaBobfather (130), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 25, 2008 This Arrogant Bastard is amazing. The Oaked smell invites me into it’s smooth taste and flavor. It’s color is a beautiful dark amber. It’s is a smooth and subtle as a bastard ale will get. There is no overwhelming flavor, just liquid goodness. Stays on my tounge well, it’s a great drink.I am highly impressed with this special beer. Great for all times of year!
Zbong (4), , Michigan, USA does not count Jul 26, 2008 Pours amber just like regular AB but the smell is a lot more mellow. Oaked tastes similar but goes down smoother than the regular. This is good because more can be had, but the kick of Arrogant Bastard is what makes it so great. jkwalking05 (171), Arlington, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bright ruby in color with a good sized beige head. Oak and hop aromas and flavors. The oak flavor is more of a leafy live oak flavor and balances well with the hop charicter. A rich, woody finish and aftertaste. BeerBaron617 (85), Novi, Michigan, USA Jul 26, 2008 I had this the other night with a girlfriend, who actually split it with me! cheers for finding a girl with good taste in beer! anyways, the rating: I was expecting a harsh beer, due to the description, but it was actually quite smooth and drinkable. the aroma had some slight fruityness, and the flavor was oaky, but with hints of citrus and flowers. Very tasty! sebletitje (147), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of IdateTheFormula & vsdef42.
Pours ruby/amber. Head is white/nutty.
Aroma is oaky and light toffee, malty and roasted.
Taste is oaky followed by a wonderful taste of caramel/toffee malts. It settles perfectly, smooth lightly roasted. The oak is hidden and doesn’t take away form the complexity.
I can’t help but love all the Stone offerings, this is one solid beer by a great brewery. daknole (533), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 Good beer that I have had a number of times. Pours a dark reddish color wtih a mostly white head. Aromas of dried fruit, hops, malt. Flavor is nice. Body isnt totally full, but still a good mouthfeel. Hops and malt are evident wtih a certain hint of wood...surprise!(not)
