Bottle. Sweet floral hops aroma. Red amber color with a whispy off-white head. Bitter dominates the flavor, dry, biting but with a nice mouthfilling floral sweetness. Medium bodied. solid.

Pours a lightly hazy, dark caramel brown color. A foamy, beige colored head shows nice retention, leaving delicate ribbons of lacing behind. The nose shows a good deal of toasted caramel malts and glazed biscuit notes, balanced out by a decent amount of citrus and grassy hops. The flavor follows suit, with toasted, sweet caramel and some buttery toffee complementing the dry, citrusy, grassy hop billing. Well balanced, smooth, and easy to drink. Medium bodied. Finishes pretty clean. Perhaps a touch too sweet for a session brew, but nice nonetheless.

heemer77 (5008) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - APR 25, 2008
Lightly hazy dark gold to amber colored body with a lightly off white head. The aroma is light oranges with some walnuts. There is also a decent fresh biscuit character. The taste is light toffee and black tea. There is also a little bit of apple hints behind those flavors. This would be a decent beer, but it is almost void of hops in the taste.

amber color, not much head, floral hop is there but muted, good malts with a resin type hops flavor. Decent beer not great

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2008 had this one many years ago and didnt care for it. had it recently and it was much better than i remembered. no real aroma, but lots of other nice stuff. Flavor is dry and bitter, with a good mix of hops and spice, with a nice dry, crisp finish.

12oz bottle. Creamy, tan head, quickly dissipating. Decent, if not thin lacing. Copper in color. Hints of tropical fruits, caramel, hops. Dangerously smooth. Probably Oaken Barrel’s best offering.

Pours a chunky coper color. I love it. Lots of pineapple, citric, and floral hop aroma. Flavor is terrific. Sweet malty stickiness balances the great pineapple and citric hop flavors. A zestiness is left in the mouth to crave more. I am really surprised this is only ranked a 3.15.

12 oz. bottle. Cloudy amber pour. Medium sized head that vanishes into a thin lasting film. Smells of hops, sweet malt, and a slight note of citrus. Well balanced flavor with a lasting bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable, but not one of the best for this category.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2007 The best beer overall at Oaken B’s. The IPA just lacked balance But this was hopiness in a glass. Balance nearing perfection. An oustanding pale ale. Stronger and more hoppy than most. I am not usually a pale ale fan either.
