jahughey (65), Franklin, Indiana, USA Sep 24, 2005 Best brewpub porter I have had - VERY good. Wonderful roasty, chocolatey aroma, thick tan head. Medium body, rich chocolate, roasted malt and caramel flavors. Great balance of hop, malt, and roasted flavors. I love this beer.
bretupdegraff (101), Fishers, Indiana, USA Oct 5, 2008 poured dark - nice head aroma is coffee - Taste is bland portor - nice palate. little stale tasting. awiseman01 (48), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 30, 2008 Growler. Pours dark with light brown head. Smells of roasted malts and chocolate. Some vanilla. Taste is very dark and bitter, but well balanced with sweetness. Chocolate component is very nice. Beerlando (1352), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2008 Pours a dark and lightly translucent chestnut brown color. A foamy, khaki colored head settles to a wispy film, while sudsy lacing slowly wanders back towards the body. Aromas include coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, roasted peanuts, and caramel malt. Earthy hops lend balance to the nose. Flavors follow suit, baker’s chocolate and scorched caramel showing alongside coffee and bitter, earthy hops. The body is a little disappointing for a porter, slightly watered down but well carbonated and drinkable. Overall, this is a pretty decent little session porter, but it’s noting special. jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 28, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a rich light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-molasses/ash/coffee/chocolate, roasty, slight dark fruit. Taste is dark malt-coffee/chocolate, secondary earthy hops bite. Mild carbonation.
Sparky27 (600), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle courtesy of StFun. Pours a crude oil black with almost zero head. Nose is light coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma with a mild bitter finish. Lighter mouth feel. Decent porter – thanks Josh!
