UPDATED: FEB 8, 2009 Feb 2004 White Cliffs Winter Ales Fest. Gravity. A huge and very pleasant barley wine - a big rush of pale malt, splendidly and gently sweet, perfectly balanced with a delicate and floral hop envelope. Nice indeed. [3.2]

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2004 Cask@Bedford BF. Nose is quite aromatic with fresh tropical, lightly piney hops (some alcohol aswell). Palate starts off with fresh, with some kiwi fruit, finishing with some appley alcohol, well balanced, with a medium bitterness.

Cask@oe13. Yellow hazy. Estery nose. Some ripe banana, some yeast. Full bdied, slight oily. Doesn’t really feel that boozy, but does feel like getting it boozy was more important than flavour here. Like kilju with some finesse.

On draught at The Coronet, Holloway Rd. Clear golden colour, frothy head. Fruity hop aroma. Flavours are a good blend of fruity hops and toffee malts. Raisins and apples are there, too. Nice

Hand pulled at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham. Golden beer, with a very loose froth head. Looked and smelt like a Golden. In fact, it tasted much like a Golden too, but a good one, with a nettley, crushing bitterness to finish. Never clocked this as a Barley, never even clocked it as being 7.5%. Enjoyed it though - cut through the spiciness of my accompanying Thai meal a treat.

Cask/gravity at GBBF 2009. Pours a rich gold with good condition but almost no head. Honey, orange and apricots on the nose, a big fruity and sweetish warming body with a good sharp bitter tang and a citrus and peppery hops finish.

Cask, gravity, at St Neots BF ’09 (’Booze on the Ouse’). Gold. Aroma of Corona lemonade, but taste is thicker, oilier. Brimming with citrus. A little bitterness. Immensely, treacherously drinkable.
