Cask - Dartford WMC. Pours dark yellow with a small white head. Quite thick and oily in the glass. Orange peel, piney hops and lemon on the nose. Strong grapefruit flavours, backed by resiny, lemon hops a rich caramel note and biscuity malts, also with a hint of its alcohol content. Smooth palate texture, low carbonation gives quite a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel despite the ABV with a final lingering bitterness.

Cask at the NWAF, Manchester, 2012. Bright yellow/gold pour with a white head. Syrupy nose, pear drops and mango in the aroma. Honey and mango flavour with a spicy, grassy feel. Throat warmer. Long fruit filled finish. Very nice indeed.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Fin’s excellent Merton Beer Festival.
Bright gold with a thin white head and good condition. The aroma is a fantastic blend of old school Tipex thinner, pear drops, massive fruity hops, plenty of sweet alcohol and yet a peppery dryness. Flavour is similar but just doesn’t quite sit right. Still good though and the alcohol is pretty wel hidden. Lots of pear in the finish with some eventual alcohol. Thick and juicy but not at all cloying. This split us all at the festival but I was one of those who really liked it.

Cask at the New Crown (JDW) in Southgate. Thanks Magicdave! Clear amber gold with a creamy white head. Sweet, obviously heavily alcoholic from the nose, but not harsh. Smooth, it coats the mouth but isn’t sticky. Lots of nice oak and vanilla flavours and subtle warmth.

Cask (hand pulled) at the Babington Arms, Derby. This was 7.5% ABV on the occasion I tried it. Innocent gold body, disguised alcohol, touch of the Lockets cough drops to it. Quite yummy.

Cask in the new crown. Alround rating: Aroma when fresh on it an excellent mix of citrusy pineapple goodness, sweet pale malts, small toffee appleness too as it has been on a day or two. Taste is similarly flavoured and excellently balanced for the %, massivly dangerously drinkable stuff.
