Golden-straw colour. Short head. Very fruity citrus scent. Quite thick and sweet. Very perfumed. Like liquid Turkish Delight. Slightly sticky. Wow.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2004 Cask@Bedford BF. Nose is quite aromatic with fresh tropical, lightly piney hops (some alcohol aswell). Palate starts off with fresh, with some kiwi fruit, finishing with some appley alcohol, well balanced, with a medium bitterness.

Light gold in colour, this doesn't look dangerous. Aromas are sweet grain and alcohol vapours. Flavours are JHB on steroids. Grapefruit and grain. Grrrr.

Cask at The Butchers Arms, Herne:An odd beer this one. A barley wine aroma to it, yet very pale and more like a strong golden ale in flavour. Rich, fruity and quite syrupy.

Hand pulled at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham. Golden beer, with a very loose froth head. Looked and smelt like a Golden. In fact, it tasted much like a Golden too, but a good one, with a nettley, crushing bitterness to finish. Never clocked this as a Barley, never even clocked it as being 7.5%. Enjoyed it though - cut through the spiciness of my accompanying Thai meal a treat.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (6101) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2008
Cask, Charters, Peterborough (7.5%). Same pale shining clarity and frothy m/f as the Inferno somehow. Persistent and lacy. Drinks silkily like a Belgian. Nose of heady apple, citrus, custardy apple sauce sweetness. Nice. Lethally smooth concoction of lemony hop and creamy malt, with only a gnaw of almond hinting at the ABV. Still the signature crisp hopping shines through. One of the few genuinely nice cask English beers at this strength I’ve encountered.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2010)
6 touch of butter but otherwise rich.
4 deep gold, flat
7 simple sweet malty palate
4 low carbonation, supersoft palate, a touch sweet and sticky, but lovely. Without the sweetness this would be 5
15 fuck me 7.5 percent. No way.
