Cask. A golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of elderflowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, and elderflowers, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Cask at The Churchill Tavern, Ramsgate: Very sharp and fruity. Really refreshing beer, also very bitter. Tasted distinctively Oakhamesque.

Cask at the Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks 07-10-08 Pours amber with a white head. I find this to be quite tangy and fruity with a long bitter and dry finish, in fact I found that the bitterness hung around for an age and I could still taste it a few miles up the road at Waddesdon.

Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Hazy copper, nice fine white cap. Rustic warm orange aroma with a touch of vanilla. Full chewy sweetness with a salty mineral quality. Fruit juice hops, generous and interesting, though a little rough. A little too much like chewing on raw hop pellets. Bit distracting from an otherwise nice beer.

Handpulled cask at the Peterborough beer fest. Amber with a whie head. Rich juicy malts with ample but less hop characture than is the norm with this brewer. Good but that’s it.

A Mes rate: cask handpump at Peterborough Beer Festival.
Amber with a thin white head and the typically excellent condition you expect from Oakham. Lovely bright hoppage in the nose with some slightly treacly malt yet it remains reasonably dry. Rich and malty in the mouth with a very delicate sourness that works superbly well. Grassy and bitter, rich and chewy with some stunning earthy notes. More excellence from one of my favurite English brewers.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Peterboro BF 2008. A light amber coloured beer with some decent hops in the nose but also some sweet malts. The taste is quite fruity with some earthy hops. tasty and has decent alcohol notes. Drank this blind and would never have picked it out as Oakham. Without doubt the least hoppy of all the Oakham light beers I’ve had and no obvious American influence at all unlike their best stuff.
