The first of our single hop variety beers. We were the first brewery in the UK to use Citra. The beer proved so popular that we will be brewing it again. Permanent from January 2011.
A light refreshing beer with pungent grapefruit, lychee and gooseberry aromas leading to a dry, bitter finish.

Aroma: milder set up with singular hop qualities - lemongrass, grease, dry hay. Cant say I love it.
Apperance: poured as pale golden ale with medium plus bright white cap. Some rings on glass.
Taste/Palate etc. medium bodied with slightly thinner walls. Citrusy, grassy front with golden malts and mineral backing. Bit one sided as expected but flows well. You won’t find greatness here just well done single hopper.

Bottle - pours a clear golden ale with a smallish rocky white cap. Aroma is earthy with citra bouquet. A mild ale with thin malting but with a similar balancing hop bearing which builds slightly to a mildly bitter finish - a top notch sessioning mild ale

At just on cool and into an English pint. Loose, sudsy white crown atop a hazy, yellow gold body. Promising, tropical fruit dominated nose. Vinous with plenty of pine, grapefruit, lychee, pear drops and lime zest. Mmmm, that is bitter. A bright, peaking hop bitterness on and in the swallow. Sour, citrus esters make it tangy and tart. Plenty of juicy fruit up front with a light, dusty malt base. Body is light and it is soft in carbonation. Thirst quenching and deadly sessionable. A nice, Summer quaffer! Pours a light straw yellow with a fizzy white top. Aroma is a wallop of grapefruit and light berry. Taste is light straw malts, obvious citra hops but disappointed that the malt doesn’t back it stronger. Could have done more with this I think, but hard to argue with gold medals. Just not my thing.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours out pale straw colour, not much head to speak of. Aroma is nice, punchy sweet hops, grapefruit and tropical fruit Thin mouth feel. All hops on the taste, fruity. Quick bitter finish. I get a small hint of caramel malt. Very easy drinking. Worth trying but too expensive to stock up on.

Thin foamy white head with fresh aromas of citrus and mandarin. Very clear yellow body. Lightly hoppy. Some refreshing spices. Pleasant when cold. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from LCBO. Toronto, ON. Pours a clear golden colour with a small white foamy head. It has a fruity aroma with notes of grapes and elderberries and hops. The taste matches the aroma but the hoppy flavor is pronounced with a smooth finish. Light body with medium carbonation. Great hoppy beer very well balanced with some refreshing fruity taste.

Cask @ Hopbine, Cambridge. Pours yellow, almost straw. Little head and no lacing. Heady aroma of pineapple and resinous hop. Taste is quite bitter, but balanced and refreshing. Flavours come through well in the taste. Aftertaste is a bit soapy. A very solid beer from Oakham.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear yellow-gold with a thin cap of white head. Lovely bright and fresh aroma with notes of lychee, tart grape, tangerine and grapefruit. Medium-thin body with crisp carbonation. Lightly toasted cereal malt provides a base for the fresh and fruity hops promised by the aroma. It’s a bit more restrained than what a similar beer would be like from a North American brewery - but that’s OK, as the hops still shine, and it’s dead easy to drink. Excellent stuff!

This is one of my fave hoppy golden ales in bottle or cask. It's full of zesty hops. Amazing beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
