The first of our single hop variety beers. We were the first brewery in the UK to use Citra. The beer proved so popular that we will be brewing it again. Permanent from January 2011.
A light refreshing beer with pungent grapefruit, lychee and gooseberry aromas leading to a dry, bitter finish.

Bottle. An almost clear one, golden in color, and topped by a small, dense, off-white head. It’s very citrusy on the nose, with tropical fruit hints, peaches and oranges, and a pleasant biscuity maltyness in the back. Some pleasant nutty, biscuity maltyness in the flavor too, more or less overpowered by the hoppy flavors. Balanced bitterness all the way. Full to medium body, with a silk soft carbonation. A really tasteful and pleasant pale ale. 131214

Bottle. Pours lightly hazed clear gold with decent white head, with some lace. Aromas of oats, pine, citrus, lychees and grass over a light malt toffee canvas. Medium light body, med-high carbonation; hints of toasted malts, sweet light caramel but citrus and lychees round out the hop flavour, finishing light refreshing and hoppy.

Bottle(purchased @ Sainsbury’s, Cromwell Road):Golden with a slight greenish haze and a persistent small white head, solid dry exotic-fruity and citric nose, supported by a hayish touch; robust dry bitter flavour with a very faint malty background, lkght bodied; lingering - what else - dry ( but not bone dry) citric hoppy finish, accompanied by exotic fruits and some well hidden malt. Very, very fine stuff…

From 500 ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear yellow-gold with a small but persisting white head and light carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, basil, orange zest, earth and white bread. Taste is very light at first, but then a big citrus - mainly grapefruit, lemon pith and bitter orange - hit of bitterness ramps up in the mid-palate. Also pick up a herbal note - mint or basil - in there somewhere and a touch of white pepper. This washes out to a sweet malty finish. Pleasant orange zest aftertaste. Really good.
