3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 CheesedMan (550) - Saint Cloud, Florida, USA - APR 5, 2008
Cask at Redlight, Brent you rock. Not quite sure what to expect, but this one definitely exceeded all my expectations. Pours a rich orange color, with a voluptuous head. The aroma is unusual and fascinating, with a sweet citrus note dominating. The malt does come through, but that hop charecter is really nice, almost funky. The flavor is what i love about British beers, a near perfect balance between the hops and malt. This would be my everyday drinking, that is if I had a beer engine and an unlimited supply of casks.

On cask at Redlight. Nice looking reddish-copper with a thick soapy white head. Nice hoppy aroma, but malt still sticks its head out. Hop character is vaguely citric, but has an earthy quality also. The hops assist the toasty malts, but don’t overtake. Great body and very drinkable. Good job Brent!

Cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours a hazy orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is very ripe florida oranges, dry hops, and spice. Nice malty body with a nice balance of the spicy hops. Finishes dry and fruity. Really good.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2008 Cask at redlight. Very nice. Dark reddish brown, with a foaming head that settled into a lingering layer of cream. Hoppy aroma, with a spicy resiny citric nature, some caramelized rye breadiness malts, toasty and maybe just a touch nutty. Low carbonation in the mouth, light andsmooth going down, somewhat citric and piney hops skirt the edges, finish easy. Quite an easy drinker.

Cask at Redlight Redlight. Wow, this is different and unexpectedly good! Pours a dark burnt-orange amber color with a foamy, creamy, off-white head. The foam shows excellent retention, leaving thick, foamy rings of lacing on the glass. The nose showcases the new hop varietal, Sorachi Ace, which is definitely an off-the-wall example. Freshly sliced Florida oranges hit the nose first, with creamy lemon chiffon, toasted bread, caramel, and candied citrus rinds all showing strong. The flavor displays a toasty, malty, bready background, while still allowing the funky citrus hops to shine. Finishes short and sweet, with fading citrus hops. Substantial, smooth, creamy body. Very easy to drink. So much better than your average, boring English bitter. This is what a session beer was meant to be. Great job Brent on procuring this rarity!

cask @ redlight redlight. Very interesting nose!!! Lemon zest, citrus oil, with a hint of pine resin, and some sweet malts. Pours dark amber with a thick fluffy off white head. Man this is hoppy for an english beer! Whats really interesting is taste a new hop flavor, not the same old grapefruit flavors, with a really different bitterness. Citrus oils, some lemon zest, a dash of grapefruit, with a heavy resiny flavor, this beer does have a strong malt backbone! Its an honor to get this beer all the way in florida!

Cask at Bacchus, Newcastle. It was absolutely freezing on the night I tried this in Newcastle and this pint certainly warmed me up. The orange zest, spice and toffee are perfect for the Winter months and the lingering bitterness finishes off each sip nicely. The fruity aroma doesn’t prepare you for the kick of flavours you get from this beer. Lovely copper colour as well.

Cask in Blackfrioars. Aroma is lacking somewhat, but i can feel the hop resins and toffee malt character trying to be goose island IPA. Taste is initially malty, toffee, then the bursting citrus hop resin kicks in, followed by caramel and lychee flavours in a bitter finish. Excellent beer. Infact i recon in better condition that i put it in myself, outstanding.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Merton Winter BF. An amber coloured beer with a loose white head. The aroma is spicy and almost grassy. No doubt hoppy. The taste has a good malt backbone behind some sharp grapfruit notes and a little spiciness. Another tasty offering from Oakham.

Cask at Bacchus, Newcastle. Copper with a very fruity aroma. Full flavour with orange zest, very hoppy and sweet.
