Cask at the Duchess of Cambridge, London, during the American Beer Festival. Pours hazy, matte yellow with a light, foamy white head. Lots of juicy citrus and pine needles in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with loads more sticky pine, ripe lemon, grapefruit and lime. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet finish with high resinous stick, fresh grass, pine, and melon. Lots of ripe and sticky citrus and pine overall. Good one.

75cl bottle from Oakham’s Barton Arms. That’s a big bottle and I was pleased, nice big bitter hops, but it’s well balanced. Love Citra.

Cask conditioned at Rugby Beer Fest ’12. Gold with white head. Another belter from Oakham, huge hoppy aroma leading to a bitter, grapefruit, gooseberry beer. Heaps of flavour and character. Lovely stuff and my beer of this Festival.

On cask - Smell is hoppy and quite sweet, as you would imagine for the style. Pours a pale golden colour with a fine white head which keeps well. Tastes very bitter, with a strong hop flavour and a slight sweetness. Has a very long after taste with a very dry character, medium bodied. Would definitely recommend and have again, another great beer from Oakham.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2012 Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Golden, thin white head. Smells like pickled mango, with a hint of mint chili. Very tasty stuff, but I have to admit, this doesn’t strike me as vastly different from Oakham’s excellent APAs. Smooth, very tangy, with rich tropical notes and sweet Darjeeling. Bitter on the finish, with a little crunching dryness. As lovely as I expected. RE RATE: Bottle at Bartons Arms, Birmingham. Wow. I Totally underrated this previously. Perhaps it was under conditioned on my cask sample, but this bottle was chiming; the hops were clanging on my tongue and my tastebuds were ringing. Supremely singular - clean, tangy, tasty and super smooth (yet crisp). My nadgers were veritably twitching. Can see this becoming my ’go to’ beer. Prev score 3.9 on 1/6/12. Now throttled up to 4.5 on 17/11/12.

Cask at The Black Bulls Head, Openwoodgate, Near Belper, Derbyshire 07.04.12 with Loz, Dad & Pauline We had this towards the end of the night after a number of Whim Cluster Bombs, and Marble Dobbers. This was quite wonderful, juicy, fruity and superbly hoppy. Tangerine and Mandarins in fact it just seemed like exotic oranges, great beer, and whilst incredibly hoppy it wasn’t as good as the Whim Cluster Bomb. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.0

Cask gravity, Leicester BF, 08/03/12. Brilliant and pale with a loose head- who gives? Outstanding pissy Citra, humid flowers aroma with dribble-making tropical bubblegum, red apple, melon and fresh apricot. Stewed Darjeeling with biscuit dunks, lime-dappled sweetness, big bag of blackcurranty and Tropical Starburst loveliness. Beer of The Fest. Don’t know if it’s bitter or sweet. Dry out of hops. Went down like the devil in velvet trousers.

Cask handpull at Tap East Stratford. Clear yellow gold colour with thick white head. Aroma of sweaty citra hops. Wow that is hoppy. Creamy mouthfeel. Wow that is hoppy as hell. Good though. My god that is good. All the Oakham easy drinking know how with a hop kick from the devil himself. Seriously bitter on the finish. Thats pretty damn good. Lovely. 4.3/5
