Cask (Live&Let Live, Cambridge)
Lovely citrussy aroma. Sweet. Mid orange in colour. Full hoppy taste, well balanced with rich sweet malts. Finish bold and citrussy. Perhaps a bit too big to wow me, I could feel the effects of the alcohol in it, but very well made, certainly.

Cask, gravity, at the Rake. Amazing pine aroma with floral notes. Taste has grapefruit and pineapple, bitter finish in tolerable doses. Best beer of the day by far, and possibly the best of the trip.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask, Criterion, Leicester. Golden with a thin white foam. Aromas are grapefruit and kiwi with pineapple and floral, green pine. Biscuit with peppery alcohol. Flavours are sweet mixed tropical fruit with grapefruit bitterness and hints of melon in the background. Resinous green pine with grassy notes and grapefruit bitterness. Sweet fruity hops to finish with floral aspects. Quite viscous on the palate, a stronger Citra. Reminded me of the mighty Stone Double Cali IPA. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 25, 2011 Cask (gravity) @ The Rake, London. Clear yellow pour. Aroma is very hoppy, pineapple, passion fruit, cats piss, really fruity and pungent. The hop taste is awesome, sweet orange, pineapple, red apples, decent bitterness. Doesn’t play much on the more malty strings, but the hops have a really nice sweetness in a degree that I haven’t experienced before in an IPA. The hops balance real nicely, making this a very delightful treat. And it works really well with the tiny amount of carbonation that’s present when served from cask. Really good.
