4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 Review is a combination of bottle and cask. Slightly hazy, golden body with a fluffy white head that holds well. Lively carbonation. Lots of sticky lacing. Stunning, powerful aroma of pineapple, lemon, passionfruit and mango, with subtle grassy, resin and biscuit notes. Lovely juicy tropical fruit flavours. Very hoppy and refreshing - I love the Citra hop and this showcases it perfectly. Not a great deal of malt character, but who cares? This is amazing. Bitter finish and barely a hint of its 6.0% ABV. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. An utterly brilliant beer - one of the best I have ever tasted. For me, it is a stronger, hoppier, turbo-charged version of the (also amazing) Jarl by Fyne Ales.

In bottle at home. Pours a blonde colour with a decent white head. A fantastic aroma of pineapple, passion fruit and lime. Similar flavours with well balanced alcohol and lingering lime again. Moderate carbonation, light CO2 prickle and an oily mouth-feel. Nicely bitter and very drinkable.

Bottle. Pale golden colour with white head, that leaves some nice lacing. Strong aroma of tropical fruits like mango, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, orange and some piney notes. Very hoppy bitter taste, dragging all that fruits with it. Excellent beer!

Gold colored pour. Big white head. A little lacing left behind the quick falling head. Big fruity aroma of grapefruit and oranges. Some malt. A nice citrusy flavor with some buttery caramel unfortunately in there. A slight bitterness that lasts throughout. A little sweet and dry. Not bad at all.

[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Clear golden beer with a large, tight white head. Big, juicy and resinous aroma, along with a whack of orange fruit. Sweet pineapple on the flavour, orange and lemon, leading into a lovely resinous hoppy bitterness. The absolute business – this is one of the best British IPA’s I’ve ever had, quite simply. The way the flavours move on from the sweet fruit into the piney bitterness on the finish is wonderful

660ml bottle from Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Clear gold in colour with a tight white head and plenty of carbonation. Massive, Crisp, slightly creamy aroma of mango, grapefruit and pine. Flavour had a solid, biscuity malt back bone, more tropical fruits, tangerines and a lingering, dryish finish. Excellent.
