4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2013
Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn Hazy deep blond color with medium sized head. Wonderful aroma, full of citrusy hops and with a typical English, earthy touch, and sweat. The mouthfeel is very lean, and dry; elegant toffee flavor, light; strong bitterness, expected, with citrusy notes, orange peel, and light papery end; long final. No caramel and no residual sweetness. The hopping seems more complex than just Citra, maybe because of the yeast. Excellent American IPA, very clean but still with a British touch.

Cask handpull at Tap East Stratford. Clear yellow gold colour with thick white head. Aroma of sweaty citra hops. Wow that is hoppy. Creamy mouthfeel. Wow that is hoppy as hell. Good though. My god that is good. All the Oakham easy drinking know how with a hop kick from the devil himself. Seriously bitter on the finish. Thats pretty damn good. Lovely. 4.3/5

Cask conditioned at Rugby Beer Fest ’12. Gold with white head. Another belter from Oakham, huge hoppy aroma leading to a bitter, grapefruit, gooseberry beer. Heaps of flavour and character. Lovely stuff and my beer of this Festival.

Cask, gravity, at the Rake. Amazing pine aroma with floral notes. Taste has grapefruit and pineapple, bitter finish in tolerable doses. Best beer of the day by far, and possibly the best of the trip.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester 20/07/12. A golden coloured beer. A strong hoppy beer which certainly comes across as an IPA. There is a bit of sweet malt but this is all about the hops. A big body and lots of hop flavours. Typically good from Oakham.

Cask (Live&Let Live, Cambridge)
Lovely citrussy aroma. Sweet. Mid orange in colour. Full hoppy taste, well balanced with rich sweet malts. Finish bold and citrussy. Perhaps a bit too big to wow me, I could feel the effects of the alcohol in it, but very well made, certainly.
