Cask at the King Billy. Glowing golden, this delightful beer is typical of Oakham: bursting with grapefruit and other citrus flavours, fruity, juicy with an abiding bitterness. Lovely stuff.

A yellow to orange gold coloured beer with a thickish white head. A light hoppy nose with a distinctly tropical fruit aroma of bananas and mangoes! A dry, but weak mouthfeel, hoppy flavour with a citrusy taste, with the tropical fruits again. The finish is long and dry. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Cask@Criterion, Leicester. Very pale beer with a light head and large bubbles. The aroma is light and fruity and the flavour is very dry. Overall a nice well hopped beer.

NOt too goldy, but nice in flavour, I like it so far, foam bubbling and not annoying.

Cask at Oakham Brewery Tap, Peterborough. What more can I say about Oakham beers. Golden, zesty, orange/tangerine with some grapefruit, zingy, hoppy dry and completely wonderful. This is no different but maybe slightly more creamy.

This is an Oakham beer so no surprise that is golden and conspicuously hoppy The aroma is grassy with noticeable orange zest notes. Juicy, fruity flavour. But its relatively low key and less ebullient than many of its stable mates. There’s a hint of underlying malt in there too. Rather acidic finish. Fresh, clean and citric but not as much pizzazz as I’ve come to expect from Oakham. Cask (gravity), Cambridge Beer Festival.

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. ABV was listed as 4.9%. The brewery website does not mention the ABV, it might vary. This is another lovely citrussy golden ale from Oakham, a style which seems to be their specialty. Golden colour, low head. Plenty of citrus, tropical fruits and honey in the aroma. Flavour has some citrus, but also some of the dusty hoppiness you’ll find in many Southern English ales.
