Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. I think that this will be my lowest rated Oakham beer! Copper coloured, thin white head. Bit maltier than most of Oakhams with some red fruit and attractive hop aroma. Some strawberry in mouth and strong hop finish. Distinctive hop bitterness. I love the finish on this, mixed with the strawberry fruit and malt.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Northamptonshire BF. A golden coloured beer with a hoppy citrus nose with just a hint of sweet malt. Nicely balanced in the mouth, and not as overly hoppy as some Oakham beers, but it could be that the extra strength allows it all to work.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 16/11/12. Lightly hazed mid golden with a good bubbly white head that retains well. Nose comprises hops, light caramel malts, tropical fruit notes. Tastes of light floral hops, caramel malt, orange, sugars. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter sweet finish.

Compared to JHB this is quite a boozy number. Having said that, this is quite a different beer - darker and more malty, with fruit and toffee. Still refreshing though and pretty strong for a summer quaffer (and a workday lunchtime!)

Gravity cask at Son of Sid Brewery, The Chequers, Little Gransden, Cambs’ 1st Beer Festival on 02-10-09 Pours amber with white head, crystal clear, another beer in excellent nick. Light spiciness on the nose, some ginger which was also very apparent in the mouth. Ginger was more powder than root, unusually for Oakham not as hoppy as expected. A5 A5 F6 P3 Ov12 3.3
