3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask, gravity, at Pig’s B’ear Festival ’10 at The Pig ’n’ Falcon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Dark amber. Sour fruits in the aroma as well as malt. Thick, spicy rounded malt taste, full of hiddenh depths: fruit pastilles, leather, redcurrant. Mid bitter finish. You could analyse this too much.

Cask at the New Crown (JDW) in Southgate. Thanks Magicdave! Dark amber. Great malty caramel flavour. Rich, full bodied yet very drinkable. A great example of a strong ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at W’Spoons Southgate Nth London. Deep brown colour, malty and some toffee and of course the hops. Also a little musty as if an antique beer. US influenced, pretty good find.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Gravity, Merton Winter Beer festival. Copper, lasting cream froth head. Lots of green hop aroma: melon, juniper cinnamon. Resiny hop bitterness, appealingly rough and aggressive. Melon flavor in a way that seems to capture the chin-dripping stickiness of ripe musk melon, while being simultaneously a crisply dry beer. That’s impossible, but yet...there it is! This is dangerous stuff! We may have created a hole in the space-time continuum!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hand pulled cask at the Rake. Amber brown with a beige foaming head. Everything I expect from Oakham. Luscious, resinous, dynamic citrus bitterness, juicey malt, great body.....where are the tissues?.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The downside, not a lot. I’m guessing amarillo, Centenial and mount hood, on a nice broad caramelly body. Sounds almost sexual. Still, very good stuff. if a tad sweet for more than a couple.
