3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask Conditioned handpump Wetherspoons Birmingham. A copper coloured beer with a white head and lacing. A typically hoppy Oakham beer with food grapefruity notes in the aroma and mouth. Excellent citrus notes and lovely but not overpowering bitterness. A decent body to boot. Scrummy as expected.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at The Flying Horse, Gatwick - 16/12/10. Very limited spice on the palate and some hops in the taste. Didn’t taste that Christmassy so a bit disappointed.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Creamy off-white head, a bit of lace atop a clear, dark amber body. Typical Oakham profile underpins everything. Grapefruity citrus and light caramel malt notes. Almost vegetal at times on the tongue which was a bit distracting. Light to meidum body & carbonation, good length finish which you’d expect from Oakham.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Too many pints at Hinckley Spoons. Reddish and disappearing with a solid white collar. Lovely moreish blackcurrant and citrus tang, husky malts, nuts, hint of cherry. hop-drenched and balanced. No ghastly festive ’spicing’ or last minute added fruit, thank god. Big big flavours at 4. DANGEROUS.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Amber with a white head. Plenty of hops but of the traditional english variety rather than rhe usual citrus hits that you normally expect from Oakham. No festive notes. A pretty standard bitter and rather dissopointing IMO.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask in the new crown. Aroma is trypical oakham, bittering and citrusy hay hop, some caramel brown ale malts too. Taste is similar, not soo much aroma and flavouring hop as there is raw bittering hop, which is a bit annoying, but still tasty stuff.
