A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.Attractive clean orange gold with a good white head. Even McSpoons can’t ruin that. Excellent bright prickly hoppage and earthy malt all round. Adorable lemon notes, perfect bitterness, great length. Typical brilliance from Oakham.

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, JDW, Canterbury. Amber, lasting ivory head. Oakham and Amarillo hops in a beer? You might think that I like this. Yes I do. Proper hop. Towards the end of a barrel I think. Not perfect condition lots of pulling through of the beer. Could be better than what I have already.

Hand pulled cask at several JDWs during their Spring 2010 festival. Dark amber with a good off white head. Good fresh hops without the usual Oakham citrus signature and a more earthy character. Well balanced and session able.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Gold with a thin cream head; malty aroma; rich creamy malts with a trace of caramel; then a dry citrusy finish. A very well put together bitter.

Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Amber with an off-white head. Aromas are earthy hops with biscuit malts. Peppery and floral with yeast Grapefruit with hints of caramel. Flavours are biscuit malts with lots of Oakham style hops. Fruity, peppery with grapefruit bitterness. Dry on the finish. Another good, simple brew.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. A dark golden beer with a white bubbly head. Pleasant understated hops in the aroma lead to very flavoursome hops in the mouth which balance effortlessly with the malts. Lovely and easy to drink. Quite restrained for Oakham, certainly so given the Amarillo and Citra, but it’s a lovely drink.
